Call me sad if you like, but I've spent the evening setting up a couple of laptops with wireless adaptors to integrate with my ADSL modem/router and two desktops. I've now got a Linksys WUSB11 USB wireless adaptor on one laptop, a Lucent PCMCIA Wireless module on another laptop and the two Desktops all communicating. 
Very, very satisfying, never had so much fun with all my clothes on ;)
