Hello, Merry Christmas to you all.
Sorry to bother you, i'm a completly newbie to this.
After having to move away, i'm wondering if there is anyway i can watch Championship football (espicially Middlesbrough) on satellite? If so, what kit would be required?
A few of the local bars often show the games, also there is an OBS outside the stadium on matchdays, so i'm wondering if viewing the games in possible, nothing i have seen on the internet offers this.
I don't want to do anything illegal, just an honest person wanting to watch the footy!

You can check LJ's, liveonsat, but there doesn't seem to be a great deal of interest in the Championship, just the EPL. Al JazeeraSports show a few games, each year, has do some channels on 1W, but these only seem to be selected, top, games, not regular viewing.
There is a review, on the BBC, that covers the lower leagues, usually after match of the day.

Thank you very much for all your help!
Are there any feeds for the Championship football?
I think that is how my local used to show the games.
If not, thanks for your quick responses!

Al Jazeera is probably your best bet. They show a Championship game nearly every Saturday at 3pm. They do tend to follow the bigger supported clubs like Middlesbrough, Leeds etc. but are quite good at picking out some of the important games.
They also show most matches shown by Sly from the Championship at other times 12:15, 17:15 etc so today they are showing Nottingham v Leeds.
Al Jazeera also currently show Champions League, Europa league, La Liga, most Internationals and more

All round it's a good value card for the money.

Good luck

I should imagine Sky Sports wouldn't be a major issue to get in your part of France. You would need a dish on 28.2e and then just take your Sky box and card with you from the UK. I would imagine a good quality 100cm dish would surfice :D

60cm dish for aljazeera on 13e, they do have 2 hd channels but not sure on whether the games are shown on them.

Forest - Leeds is on +5 which is in sd.

A 60cm dish north of Paris would be plenty for 28E.

yes i was watching +3 as well.

mickha, do you know if many games are shown on the hd aljazeera channels ?

I just have 1-8 and might upgrade to full card.

I would agree with nano, if you can get sky at a family address in the uk, then bring the receiver/card with you ?

I stand corrected, I've never put up a dish in Paris :D

Although your guarenteed not to get rain fade or have issues getting the 2F spot beam with a bigger dish.

Nano...I'm using a TD88 with the LNB slightly offset (it's on the multi sat) and never suffer with rain fade unless it's a tropical downpour. I did a test with a Zone 2 type dish a couple of weeks ago and it would be more than acceptable with a fair rain margin. FYI Paris is on the same latitude as me....

There we go then a 60cm dish it is then :D

The furthest south i've done a dish for 28e was Cambrai in northern France. I used an 80cm on that and it worked fine. It was the only dish i had spare at the time :D

In fact BEIN sport cover some championship games, for example they are covering Middleborough v Watford next Saturday. This channel is widely available in France, you can pick it up via TNT, cable, via your ISP or by satellite from Hotbird. It's fairly cheap at €11 per month with no minimum length subscription (with canal + etc you have to commit to 12 months) Bein sport also cover Champions league and Europa cup.

As Wod says the most comprehensive championship coverage is via Sportklub on Total TV, they have 4 HD and 3 SD channels and on a Saturday afternoon they are covering 3-5 games in England, though most are PL games, plus they cover all the games which Sky cover (except the Champions League) Total TV is available in most of the ex Yugo countries, I have three of these systems spread around various places and the cost was about 15,000 Serbian dinars a year per system including rental the box (you couldn't buy the box at the time) This is about €135. All commentary is Serbian but it's still great value
