Had my Humax for 2 years now,but for the last month or so,when I try to record future programmes there could be a wait of up to 5 mins before the program I want comes up.
While I am waiting the expression comes up(waiting for programme information, together with an oblong box with the word OK.

Any ideas

Yes theres a problem with the epg on Foxsats atm. i think the workaround is to press the red button.

Nope. Not quite.

Instead of Guide, press Schedule then Red.

That gives you the instant cached EPG.

Close, but no cigar!

Well I have two, so nerr!

If Humax didn't take perfectly good firmware and "upgrade" it to something worse, we wouldn't have to learn about these work-arounds at all.

Hi Tivu
Perhaps I should lay what I am tried to do.
Object to record a future programme.
Method: 1,Choose guide. 2, pick programme I wish to record. 3,Push OK button.
The message comes up (Please wait for receiving broadcast information this message is occupied by a oblong box with the word OK) I then can wait up to 5 min before I can record the chosen programme.
Regards

Yes, I know.

As stated, do not Press Guide, but instead Press Schedule then Red. This brings you to the cached EPG from which you can perform the same functions as you could have done by pressing Guide and waiting for an eternity.

This delay arose after a recent firmware "upgrade" and has rendered the Guide button pointless.

Just do as stated and all will be well. And instant.

No problem - hopefully Humax will put it right in future firmware updates, but although finding workrounds shouldn't be necessary, this one is easy enough.

Just done it myself for the Bourne Identity later tonight.

Thought you might be interested in the reply I had from Humax ref recording programmes in advance.
Sorry to hear about the problem your experiencing, we are aware of it and working as fast as we can to correct the problem, unfortunately there have been some changes to the signals that are being broadcast and its caused this message to begin appearing on the Humax devices.

We are working on a software update that should be released within the next 3-4 weeks that will correct the issue, unfortunately we wasn't aware these changes were going to take this effect and had no time to prepare a software update, that is the reason for the delay.

I am very sorry for any inconvenience.

Good one, nodge: Yes, I was aware of their excuse (badly written code to try to implement a change in the EPG spec. issued by Freesat), but not that they hope to fix it so soon - so thanks for Posting the info.

You ok with the workaround I Posted?

Not with you ............. it's one extra key press to enter the EPG then you have exactly the same choices as you would have if you'd pressed guide!

No difference, otherwise.

ie Choice of SD or HD offered as appropriate plus Record one or Record all.

One extra key press isn't onerous, just annoying.

Hmm. "Infamy, Infamy, They've All Got It In For Me"

Just been browsing Digital Spy, which I only do very rarely since they decided they didn't like helpful Members, and discovered my Post #9 from this Thread had been copied, pasted and credited.

Good advice travels far!

As promised, revised firmware now available from Humax

You can either download it from _http://www.humaxdigital.com/uk/support/downloadcenter_model.aspx?category_seq=65

Or await its appearance OTA.

Just upgraded mine and the Guide issue is now fine.

I wonder how long that revision has been there as it shows a release date of 20th September.

Or is it a ploy to make future visitors to that page think that Humax actually released an update at the end of the promised 3 - 4 weeks period.

I saw the advice 'press the red button' (presumably the record button) but that's not much use if the required programme is showing in the middle of the night, or maybe a few days hence, while i am away. Are Humax able to do anything about this problem, and does it occur on newer models? Like nodge, my pvr is two years old'

Just seen the web address to download info to correct the 'guide' problem, so will give it a try.
