Been using a technomate for the last 2 years having moth-balled one of the above receivers. I'm now reading about ToH and Hot 1.9 etc.
Could anyone tell me what these upgrades provide and also can they be installed by a lay-user such as myself?

thanks in advance..any help appreciated.

...first of all , you have to find out the loader version (the one that shows up in the display when the machine boots up) .. it schould be L 2.08 or H 2.o8
which means you can upgrade straight away , just using a null-modem cable.
if the machine has been patched before it´s recommended to install original
firm (matching with hardware id) then install toh 3.2 . then hot-emu 1.8
thereafter hot 1.9 at last you have do load the current key.bin while machine
is switched on. caid select(menu toh config) has to be on emu+k and a smart-card has to be inserted (any ,even out of date or expired , the machine does accept) emu supports via , seca , irdeto , beta , nagra , conax ; unfortunately no AU yet (but the guys are working on it).
a good thing to do is , downloading the "humax toolbox" which provides a collection of very helpful tools (definitely all you need to do a perfect job)
normally you just need two programmes : the humax uploader for the hdf-files
(firmware ; patches) and the s+humi edit to load the key.bin .
...that´s it .. so good luck
