There are several hurricane relief funds (Red Cross etc.), and I would be quite happy to donate, but how do I make sure nothing goes to the tax haven British Virgin Islands?
If British companies registered with the BVI are dodging paying UK tax, why should I donate my (tax paid via my pension) contribution to that particular sovereign territory?

You could fly out there with the cash, check who is in the most need.

I could do it for you after hurricane season ends, just deposit in my cousins Nigerian account for the time being to accru a reasonable return of course.

Irma is now tracking slightly west of the Florida peninsula - bad news for the cities on that coast which will have the storm surge pushed onshore by the anti clockwise spin.
