My Satellite Setup
Goldmaster SAT-9400V with 80cm Dish. Single LNB. Setup in Turkey at villa in Yalikavak (bodrum)

Hi everyone. Never done this before so will expect I have ended up in the wrong place.
I am a desperate newby at sat systems but my problem is that I have a dish and a goldmaster 9400v ci in my villa in turkey. When I bought it 2years ago I paid out a fortune to DigiTurk and enjoyed several english channels. When I returned a year later it only picked up the turkish.
The nice man in the shop said that my subscripsion hat lapsed and I would need to give him loads more lira to watch the english channels.:mad:
Eventually a local lad came round and repositioned my dish to a different sat position. He took my box away and came back the next day with some instructions. He tuned in several english speakin channels and said that if I lost the signal I would need to tune into a specific channel and push the option to download the Key.
Again I was happy :) and did this whenever the tv said the signal was scrambelled. This year I have returned to find that I can only receive the Turkish channels and some News in english. :eek: The key thing don't work and the lad cannot be found. Back to the man in the shop who wants loads of lira to tune me back to Digi Turk.
I would do this but what a cost for a couple of weeks a year.
Help.

Well I am afraid you will be disappointed as in that two years, all but one of the providers has switched to secure encryption and Digi TV on 1 deg West are in the middle of a card swap. Your only optional method will be card sharing which can be expensive and unreliable and can be a pain to setup needing a Linux based stb so unless you fork out ...yes you guessed it loads of dosh you are on a loser. A subscription will be the only other way but for the two weeks per year you are there I would recommend having a holiday and no TV otherwise it is not a holiday
 
As suspected.
Seems all we ever do is fork out loads of dosh.
The water need paying, the electric, the maintanance charges the garden.
Time I finish forking out there is no dosh left to enjoy a holiday.
Will explain to the missus that she wont have Eastenders on BBC Prime this year.
Another expensive door stop will convert the dish into a BarB Q. Must be good for something?

That has moved satellites to 9East and also gone secure IIRC

Choose your moment to tell her carefully I say;)
 
The box I have has a card slot and a card reader which I have put into my laptop and identified it as a DVB card?
Is that any good?
What other cards can I buy that can be used back in the U.K.
At least that will make some use of them when not in turkey.
How do I go about finding the right satellite?
Sorry to be so thick but at my age this is all a bit out of my league.

It is not clear to me what happened back in Turkey.
Did you get a proper subscription directly from DigiTurk or the "shop" gave you a limited short term subscription at outrageous price?
I would suggest to contact DigiTurk directly and ask them for a subscription to one of the packages options. The cheapest is the Economy at 22.90 TL/month or 252 TL/Year.
It has BBC Prime and other channels like National Geographic, etc in English.
For other options click on the other buttons for the price and channels list

This package is on satellite Eutelsat W3A 7E
If this satellite can be received easily in the UK, then you can make a proper subscription and bring the receiver and card with you back to the UK so as to enjoy the sub all year round.
(or buy another receiver while in Turkey, take it home and leave it there).
If this satellite is not easily received in the UK, then forget about DigiTurk subscription and buy BBC Prime which should work in both countries. Need to point dishes to 9E.
As for the box that you have, you need to give us more details about the model and make. It is probably a USB DVD-S box. A photo can help.
You might still need a Viaccess CI cam.

The Box is a goldmaster SAT-9400V CI.
When I first had it installed the man set up a 80cm dish on the roof and charged about 400 lira for the digiTurk subs.
When this ran out the lad down the road moved the dish and we had something done to the box to receive films in english.
He said that the card was no use now.
I brought the box home last month to see if anyone could do anything with it.
Last night I powered it up and checked which Satellites it had been tuned to in turkey. This is that list.
Hotbird 11240 Mhz, Eutelsat W5 11240 Mhz, Badr(Ku) 11623Mhz, Badr(c) 3762 Mhz,
Asiasat2(C) 3660 Mhz,Amos1/2 and Pas 7/10.
The Mhz numbers change with the channel but there is a number
27500 Ks/s which stays the same.
The Pub down the town has Sky but their dish is as big as my roof!
Most of the locals seem to have three 80 cm dishes?
I take it I will need someone to tune back to Eutelsat W3A 7E for me.
I will look up the DigiTurk link and see if they will provide a 1 Month subs deal?
We fly out on Monday 22nd June for 2 weeks.
I have scanned the pic of the box but do not know if it will upload.

Thanks for the info.
I doubt very much if DigiTurk can provide a 1 month sub.
Your best option at the moment is to order BBC Prime card from the UK and hopefully you can get it in time before you start your holiday, test it in your home UK setup and take it with you and the receiver.
Just call them up and see if they can do an express delivery.
Alternatively ask them to post it to your Turkey address, which can be risky as things can get lost in the post.
Then point the dish in Turkey to 9E.
DigiTurk channels are encrypted in Cryptoworks and Irdeto.
So your receiver should have support for both or just one. No idea about Viaccess support. This is something that you would need to check first.
If the card readers DON'T support Viaccess, then you would need to buy the latest Viaccess CI module (The old red module might not work with the new BBC Prime smartcard. You should ask them regarding this point first.
