I dont think my cardreader works. How can i test it ?

My Satellite Setup
CURRENT SETUP:
Vu+ Solo 4k.
Vu+ Uno 4k.
TBS 5927 USB scanner
1m Dish (2-way monoblock) + 45cm Multytenne (4-way monoblock) + 75cm Technisat Square dish (motorised).
My Location
England
I dont think my cardreader labelled : "The Smart Pro Dual Osc v2.2" works. How can i test it ? I have a windows/linux/dreambox at disposal. please help

EDIT: i found a test utility and looked at hte cardreader closer, its a smartmouse/pheonix type.

i used the max king test utility which gave the same error that newcamd cardserver gives me "Reset Failed", DOes this mean my card reader is fuked ? the power light still comes on when i plug the ac adaptor in
 
ah, when i do insert a card i get this message:
