My Satellite Setup
Nothing as yet

A friend of mine has given us his portable...(in a plastic case) satellite system, as he kindly thought it would be useful in our caravan. Everything seems to be there, (apart from how to use the thing etc.,) but I need some pretty basic information. This is embarrassing, but how do I know where to point the dish ! Or where can I go for this sort of information. The receiver seems a pretty standard box...nothing fancy, but he did say, (before he left for NZ,) that everything works, just "get yourself a decent satellite finder and off you go." Very good of him, but I don't want my wife cursing me on our next away weekend, as she is dead against 'boys toys', and having seen somebody struggling with his set up on a sit, and eventually giving up, that will be me !

One of the better guides is here _http://www.satelliteforcaravans.co.uk/

It has sections giving approx. bearings and elevation and also info on how to actually align successfully and much, much more.

eg If you navigate via Free To Air you even get your own kit mentioned.

Send the missus out shopping and have a sneaky go at setting it up in the garden first ;). Then you will look like a satellite genius when you set it up in a few minutes next time you are away :D

If you have an iphone or Android based smartphone, you can use the dishpointer app, to find out which way to point the dish.

You want 28E for the English stuff.

Yep, have a practise in the garden first.
