Hi rolf,

The referer link is part of some javascript on the selection page.

Open up Windows Media Player - Select 'File' - 'Open URL' - type

Type: http://www.txradica.net/saga.php?c=saga1057fm&.wvx

It should pop and whizz and then start to stream. Once streaming, Right Click the playlist track name and select 'Properties'. The stream link will be displayed.:D

I should point out that, in my experience, circumventing the referer normally gives you what you want - since the referer does the copyright filtering AFAIU. Delivery Server's appears to be quite dumb:D But, I promise nothing, cough.

Not a tease at all alland66, basically, you will never get past the referer link, if you are out of territory.

Your grab perfectly sums up how you were refered and barred, LOL.

Someone in the UK must type-in the referer link and if they see a stream beginning mms:// or rtsp:// you are half-way there, lol.

benidormgary: you're sacked!

barmoo: a mate in england tried to find the referer link. he gave me another url but that didn't work either.

i tried googling anonymous proxyservers, then tried it in my internt explorer options / lan / proxy, but still no joy.

no biggy, i'll just remain content with bbc radio from the listen again player.

ho hum!

This is just tha same as you've posted so don't understand???

I don't understand that either. Maybe my referer link was BS.

I don't claim to be a profi on this - but I have never, to date, seen a stream hang off the end of a Perl script or http:// url for that matter.

So, PaulR, if you travel through the normal 'listen live' route and get it streaming - is that the actual link you see ?

That info, just like some good folks here submitted for the BBC DSL trial, is the only stuff we need to know.

actually barmoo, it didnt. (i can't post them because i deleted my mate's email.)

problem is, with all due respect to my mate, he's a bit of a techno-spaz (sorry!), and he couldn't do what i asked.

maybe there is someone on this forum, living in England, that could do the business?....

Just playing around, is this of any use?

_http://www.saga.co.uk/radio/pages/player.asp?stationid=ten57

It won't play in Media Player though, it says that it needs one or more codecs to open.

I really am playing in the dark here!

Another, albeit long-winded way, could be to locate the server stream. Sometimes looking at the 'Properties' of file link - not the referer link - might give away the file/stream location.

This worked a treat for the BBC stream tests earlier this year. Via the normal click-link method I was always blocked until some of our friends on this site started to post the 'actual' stream links.

Example:

http://www.txradica.net/saga.php?c=saga1057fm&.wvx (current referer link)

mms://cryomedia2.cryohost.net/saga_1057fm (and old server link me thinks) (file extensions for win streams are .asf (unsure?).

Ideally, get a friendly bod from this site :D to find the link/properties: this can be done when the stream is running on their player. They post it for you - and you open up the stream URL in a dumb player like 'Media Player Classic' and Bob's your Auntie.

Or get someone in the UK to type in mms://cryomedia2.cryohost.net/saga_1057fm in a player to see if that link is still active ,-)

.

so i guess you're looking for a link/address that starts with "mms://" , without the speechmarks.

aaaaaarrrggghhhh! it's enough to make me go and kick the cat. :-doh!

Hi again.
For this radio you have two URL's. Just choose one, they are the same radio:
mms://wm-peer-emap.london.vrnw.net/kerrang-70?MSWMExt=.asf
mms://85.159.188.7/kerrang-70?MSWMExt=.asf

Just copy-paste the link to windows media player for example and listen the radio.

Cya.

Ahh, back on the gold standard, konkhra, well done.

now, i'm the last person to be a stick-in-the-mud, but i tried both and got a:

"Windows Media Player cannot play the file because a network error occurred. The server might not be available. Verify that you are connected to the network and that your proxy settings are correct."

don't understand, as saga plays great.

i'll have a fiddle with options settings in wmp and post agian any results. The cat's still gonna get it.

Nice to see everything is turning out just fine :D

As for the Kerrang mms link - I am not suggesting for one minute that EMAP is cleverer than SAGA in protecting its content; but I'll hazard a guess that they are.:-rofl2

BTW, its the first time I have seen a link end ?MSWMExt=.asf. You learn something new every day ;-)
