Is this really the case ? So if I was living with some other people in a flat, for arguments sake, I couldnt get a sub for my own room in my own name, if the others already had a sub ?

not that I have ever heard of, in any case from my own family experience it would be the owner of the property who would be allowed to have the the subscription not the tenants or subtenants.
