Hello,
I am living in Canada and I am very interested in getting a dreambox 500s. However i have a few questions. Firstly do I need a satellite?? (I know its silly but i seriously have no clue). And secondly am i allowed to connect to any satellite i want for example lets say European satellites? (Meaning can i connect to a European provider through internet connection, or will i need a satellite)

if it helps i am specifically interested in middle eastern channels (dont know if that helps)

If you want to use a DB500s in Canada you will only be able to watch the channels transmitted from the satellites in the skies above Canada.

If you want to watch Middle eastern channels that arent carried on your sats then just see if you can find the iptv streams.

terribly sorry im new to all this terminology... so I will need to set up a satellite and stretch that cable to the dreambox? or can i search the iptv signals or w/e through broadband???

IPTV is the web streams of the tv channels. You watch them on your computer.

So I do NOT need a physical satellite on the roof of my house i can stream through the web. And if so are these IPTV signals reliable meaning will i get bits and pieces of the channels from the network or will i get all channels from the network

If you want the European / Mid East channels that arent carried on your satellites then theres no point having a dish.

You need to investigate which channels are available to you though.

You can iptv stream **some** channels. Quality is often abysmal though!

alright you've been a lot of help!!! thanks a lot man! Last question.. is there anyway to check which channels are available to me (IPTV stream) without actually having the box??

For satellite have a look at these links:

_http://www.lyngsat.com/america.html
_http://www.lyngsat.com/packages/america.html

Havent got the faintest idea whats available on the American providers but the packages link will tell you. You are on your own here - we cant answer any questions about the American providers due to our forum rules.

You dont need a box for IPTV - just your computer.

is just one site I have bookmarked, although the channel choice isnt very exciting.
