Hi all, I want freesat on my Panasonic TU-DSB30 (channel master 60cm pointing at the right bird!), but all I'm getting are BBC1 and BBC2 and the Sky customer chanel etc ( I can't even see entries on the epg for ch4 etc), if I try anything else I just get the "insert viewing card" message! Am I missing something? Do I need to tune to a different transponder etc? If so what are the settings I need to enter in the tuning menus? I have looked through every freesat post but can't see the answer! Thanks in advance, lucifer!

It sounds like you have an old software version . Update it = turn box off at the plug , replug but keep finger on the Back up button whilst dooing it . Wait a few seconds , all led's should light up and message on screen . The box should switch on standby on it's own after 10 -15 minutes . It should be all good after that , if not repeat .
PS . I assume you have a viewing card inserted otherwise you will not see the epg for the ftv channels . Do you get all the itv channels as well ?

Hi, thx for reply, I'll try updating firmware now. I was trying without viewing card as I thought the idea of freesat (not via sky) was no card needed??? I have an old yellow house viewing card that hasn't been in stream for maybe 12months, I was told when I cancelled my subs that I would be able to continue watching fta stuff such as ch4 and five, but this does not seem to be the case hence why I want to recieve the new BBC/ITV freesat service without subs card.

Keep the card in the receiver , it will self update in a couple of days and you will get ch4 , 5 , and all the ftv .

Freesat doesnt involve sky in an y way - its new receivers and a new epg system that gives you about 75 channels.

You will actually get more channels from you ex sky box - which you are using as a freesatfromsky set up. A subtle difference biut an important one.

Ah, but is freesat from sky free? As I already have equipment etc and a viewing card or Am I going to have to fork out some dough again. As I said earlier I was told when I cancelled my subs that I would still get Ch4, FIve etc which I did for a while but since digging my box out and firing it up a couple of days ago all I get on CH4/Five are messages about upgrading my subs and supposedly at a price...
BTW is that Pace box of yours the one that looks like the bridge from Starship enterprise? I have one of them if it is up the loft - I was going to butcher it for the card reader but thought better of it;-)

Just spotted your other reply Mariust5, I'll try that thanks.

And if you'd kept the Digibox switched on for your source of TV then that's exactly what would have happened.

Unfortunately you left it unplugged for more than 5 - 6 weeks and the card missed its stay alive signals. Leaving it unplugged for even longer means that the box has missed a software upgrade at some time.

Follow the instructions above and all will (should!) come true.
