It was the batsmen that failed in the Ashes, not the bowlers

England’s interim management team of Sir Andrew Strauss and Paul Collingwood, assisted by lead scout James Taylor, have left out the country’s leading wicket-takers and former vice-captain Jos Buttler.

Perhaps the interim management team needs to examine again what the failure was or were they too busy eating cream teas or having a pie and a pint to notice?

I think they have made the correct call. The West Indies are no longer the force they were. So England leaving out their best bowlers should make this series more competitive. Plus, I think the selectors have an eye on the next Ashes series. So some of these young-guns could do with the game time.

It's noticeable they aren't spinning it as just 'resting' our best bowlers.

Got to build for the future. Can't do that to full effect if the old guard don't make way.
