My Satellite Setup
No satellite stuff for the moment (aside from a 43cm minidish that was on the house already), Samsung SyncMaster T27B550 Smart TV & Monitor, and a few computers...

... but I'm not sure which one I need to get, I've been looking on eBay and there seem to be a lot, one on it's own (£60 total), one with the loader card, one with a Sim sub card, one with both loader and sim cards, and one with a CAS3 interface bundled. So, which would be best for me? I want to be able to use my sky card in a proper receiver (My Nokia 9800S) and open some channels on other satellites somehow (don't mind what, bit of a channel hopper me) and that's about it, oh, and I don't need any adult stuff, don't need to buy what I can get for free... ;)

So, which bundle do you reccomend?

Hi 2cvbloke,
you can buy a new Dragon/T-Rex for £70, and with a loader card for about £75. The newer versions have the SIM card, which is just a 9 month subscription to INXTC & XPLUS, 2 mature content channels.
If you already have a reasonable card programmer go for the Dragon and suitable loader card, a Fun 7 or PIC F84a, depending if your programmer can program in Phoenix 6Mhz mode.
All models will work with your Sky Card, after you've updated its firmware with a later version of Predator, although you do have to replace your Sky card into the digi box periodically, every month or so, to get the stay alive update.
You can program the Dragon Cam, using the Cas 3, without the need of a loader card, so you have a wide variety of choices, depending upon your budget and current equipment. You might also want to consider a cheap Dreambox, instead, which you can also use your Sky Card with.
Best wishes

Well, my current equipment (as in for programming) is a serial cable for my Nokia, that's it!!! :D

So, the best option would be the cam and loader card then (as long as I can get a phoenix programmer, was going to get into cable "stuff" and never did but learned a lot about programmers...), then I'm sorted... :D

A good option is a cheap Infinity programmer, providing they can use the later software, they can program both PIC F84A and Fun card 7's using just the USB cable, and if you can get a cheap Infiinity Phoenix USB, or if you want the latest programmers, and price no object, get either a CAS 3 or an Infinity unlimited, check infinityusb.com
Have a search of the infamous auction site for bargains, or keep your eyes open at car boot sales !!!!!!!!!!

Price at the moment is an object, so new stuff would be difficult, as fo carboots, not a chance!!! The best thing I ever bought was a USB VoIP phone!!! Everything else is just junk!!! O-Ha

I can sell u a dragon for £45 ??? its an older version but that doesn't make any difference as you load the same software on them all and they clear all the same stuff ???

Well, I don't have any cash at the moment (just spent £65 on a telephone system to re-sell so should have plenty of pennies to play with soon), but I'd rather get something new with a warranty cos knowing my luck it won't work and I'd have to send it back!!!

Plus, I like the blue coloured label on the T-Rex... :D

I pick this one.... :D
