You'll need to tell us what the manufacturer is and the model name for us to stand even a remote chance of helping you out . Different f/d ratios are the key here, and we'll need to know wihch one your antenna has.

What make is your dish?

Are you using LNBs with integrated feeds, or a C120 feedhorn? If you are using integrated feeds, you will be unlikely to get the best out of your dish.

my dish is a channel master of 2.7m but i don't know the exact model since i got it second hand. I am using LNB'S with integrated feedhorns but i believe i am not getting the best signal since these LNB'S are made for smaller offset dishes if am not wrong.
I remember reading on this forum some people can build their own feedhorn but cannot remember exactly the names.
Thankx in advance for any hint.
cheers

Certainly can with large antennas like yours. CM feedhorns are relatively easy to get hold of and perhaps an Invacom quad C120 or an Inverto C120 to bolt on to the end will illuminate the dish correctly give you a much improved signal.

Thankx Lancelot but the point is I have tried a c120 invacom on my dish and i couldn't get any better signal (i tried it on eurobird2*25.8E*).
I am curently trying to lock up Nilesat 101&102 *7w(i am in Ghana-west africa)and can hardly get anything above 40% signal strenght on both vertical/horizontal freq. I strongly believe i can improve my offset dish performance if i use the ideal feedhorn.

What feedhorn did you use with the Invacom C120?

The feedhorn i used was provided with the inVacom c120 0.3dB, it was in a whitish box. i just had to fix them together with the provided screws.it cost me a fortune and it didn't really work on my dish)(-red !!!

Have you got any photos of the dish and the feedhorn? Put them up here and some of our big dish guys can give you the benefit of their expertise.

If your dish is an offset ChannelMaster it will have an F/D ratio of 0.6.
This dish is no longer made, so it's hard to check.
The standard ChannelMaster feedhorn should work well with an Invacom Quad c120 LNB (QDF-031)
Anything else is likely to severely disappoint, particularly LNBs with a 40mm neck. You may have been sent a prime focus feedhorn. Please post a picture of what you have now.

Is there a difference then for feeds? As C120 lnbs are designed for p/focus.

Yes try the channel master feed, there easy to get hold of.

I didn't know that Channel Master ever made a 2.7m dish.

What material is the reflector, how many back ribs does the dish have ?

Hi all,
Thankx for ur msg. Well as i explain previously, i got the dish from someone who's now out of the country and it came without feedhorn. I used a 40mm LNB and I have been told using a matching feedhorn will help.
The guy from whom i got it told me it's a channelmaster and measurement are 2.7x2.4, the dish is lmade of fiberglass.
No pic available since i don't have a dig cam on hand.
cheers.

Anything Channel Master would be of fibreglass (and two - horizontal split - piece as Crossbones has mentioned) and have the manufacturers name and model imprinted in the resin on the back somewhere.

If it is unmarked but fibreglass (and in single, two (vertical split), or four pieces) it could be a Prodelin.

If it is any other material it could be anything.

A picture will tell.
