Ideas For 70 New And Sealed VHS Tapes

HI EVERYONE!

Well, that's the dilemma!! I have 70 of these things so come on folks, suggestions to what I can do with them. Can't see these being used anytime soon :D

Yeah, but only if you have right gear to use them on! Really don't know what I'm going to do with them. Do folks still buy these today or is everything HDD now?

Probably best to eBay them, I do know some people still using a vcr so they can watch the "originals" they have.

I have a couple of boxes myself probably about 20 all still sealed and I have a working vcr.
 
That's one way I suppose, but I 'd like to get rid of them in one lot really. I don't want them hanging around. Hmmm.
 
There isn't any demand these days for VHS tapes.
I sent few hundred tapes for recycling few months ago and still have a lot to throw away just don't have the time to deal with it. It will be a happy day when I can have the space they occupy now in the library.

Sling them in the bin. Almost nobody wants them any you cant recycle them easily due to the different materials in them.

The only ones that might be useful are ones that might have missing tv material on them, so they would have to either be eerly ones, ones with old BSB content on them or were recorded in one of the small ITV regions where the continuity / news wasnt kept.
 
I have 3 crates of VHS tapes & a working Sony deck the plan was to copy the best to DVD I managed about 30% of the 300 tapes dumped about 90 + so I still have a few hours work if I can muster the energy to copy the rest I aim to complete this by the end of the year & dump what I do not want.
 
It looks like 70-odd brand new, sealed E180's are going to the tip! Bloody shame, but what can you do, eh?
 
Yep.

I reluctantly binned a large number of them a couple of years back.
 
Looks likely I will be doing the same!
 
Probably no use new, like others say. I am trying to digitise "interesting" stuff I have from tapes that my mother hasn't thrown out (old music videos, channel trailers etc.)... but I doubt I will ever use them again.

If anyone has interesting things on tapes, let me know :D

A trip to the mainland at some point ?

 
There's a small market for S-VHS, I bought some recently from Leicester plod surplus sales and they sold the rest quickly. Some people still use time lapse recorders. It's worth a go on Ebay
 
If anyone has any recordings of shows from the short lived BSB & would like them saved by Kaleidoscope (the tv archive people) let me know & I'll put you in touch with the relevant people. Most of the BSB output was wiped after transmission so very little survives.

Move on, man. It's all digital now. :)

For studio recordings, there was a time when the old analogue recorders where dragged out for rock stars, as they would relish the "analgoue sound".
(That can all be done digitally now).

Do put the tapes on ebay, you might get some value out of the tapes...

Notwithstanding the re-emergence of Vinyl ..... :cool:
