My Satellite Setup
DM 500s and MacBook

Hi

I have a DM 500S I don't think it has a USB.

I have a satellite package in Thailand there are 180 channels only about 20 in English scattered everywhere so which I want to group together 1,2,3,4....and so on.
I'm told i can use an editor and I've downloaded iDream. I'm guessing I must hook up a USB between my Macbook and the Dreambox.
1. Is this so?
2. Is there an alternative?

thanx v much

You don't need to set up bouquets (which is what dreamboxes call these groupings) using a PC, you can do it from the remote control directly (Maybe not on the DM500 I only have dm600,7025 and 800). On other DMs you do it by getting up the channel list, highlighting the channel you want to add to a bouquet and then pressing "setup" and selecting "add to bouquet" and then selecting the bouquet you want to add it to. This might be different on the DM500.

The way you connect a dreambox to a PC is with a LAN connection. This can be directly, using a crossover cable, or through a router/switch using a normal ethernet cable. The USB is only really used for swap files, flashing the box. But even flashing is typicaly done over the LAN.
I use dreamedit to edit bouquets on my PC.
