I'm losing channels

My Satellite Setup
Sky+ HD (no subscription to HD)

Hi guys.

I have had this setup for 2 1/2 years or so. Pace Sky+ box, Amstrad (was Thompson but that got goosed so replaced it) Sky box in another room.

All seems ok and then I get intermittent loss of some (BBC/ITV/C4 and a few others) channels on the Sky+ box. Other one is fine.

Wife about to kill me as she wants to watch some stuff on BBC2 but has to go upstairs.

Any ideas? It's very intermittent and that means I can't give you any more info.

I tried the turn off and on thing - sometimes it works, other times not. I'm trying the re-load with turn off and on with Backup button held down trick. Tried Services 4-0-1-select and new installation. No joy there either.

Pint of your choice to whoever solves it :-)
 
Try swapping the receivers over to see if either the plus box is at fault or if the problem manifests itself on the standard box.
 
Take out one of the tuner input cables and check if the signal returns.
 
Thanks for coming back to me Channel Hopper.

The download thing just didn't do anything. Message on the screen for >20 minutes so I turned off at the mains and left it for 10 mins. Turned on again and all was ok.

When it goes again (it will!) I'll try your suggestion of taking out one input at a time and see what happens.

Maybe it's just time to get a new box. Don't want to go HD yet though. I can't justify the extra subscription (not to mention the current £30 per month)
