Laminas 1.2M fibre dish with an IBU, on a Clarke Tech USALS motor, covering 57E - 24.5W to an Octagon SX88. Displayed on a 20" Dyon LED TV.

Seperate 80 cm dish on 28E with a Humax Freesat for SWMBO.

I'd check the verticality of your pole first. Your dish seems to be mounted on a slab which looks as though you have a wedge underneath. If there isn't a problem with the dish elevation take that out, get the pole plumb both left and right and back to front, and try again. It also looks as though the dish itself is leaning or is set at an angle, has the dish mount been damaged?

Dish mount looks fine - it's just not pointing at a "due south" satellite. But agree with the rest.

thanks for the advice, the LNB is prob 10 yrs old by now so a replacement is
prob a good idea...
the cable you see is just a short cable I got together to take the signal thru
the kitchen window.... on the small TV while I do a search
the real cable is disconnected while i do this, that cable goes
up into the loft then down into my bedroom

Im getting a bit fed up with the big dish... it looks a sight and takes up a lot of space.................... maybe I should go for a wall mounted dish
maybe a system with a motor to turn the dish ?
a whole new system.

The 1.2m Channel Master is an overkill for 19.2E. What are you looking to receive?

All you need is that cheap meter, I mentioned earlier, some new cable, which you can get even at your local DIY shop, like B&Q, and possibly a new LNB.
I'm sorry, I might have missed it, but have you posted your receivers make/model?
Why not have a look at some of the photos, of members dishes, and how they've painted them, including some CM 1.2M dishes, to blend in. Some of them are hardly noticeable.
You might even want to add a motor, at some point.

Is that LNB an old Cambridge type? My God! Been years since I saw one of those and had one or two some years ago. You can get a decent LNB for little money these days.

just been out to look at the lnb .... the label is white, the sun has bleached off any
name or number it might have had.

One of the 3 metal rods that hold the lnb mounting did come out years ago,
I taped them all up, they seem quite solid now.

Spose I should go out with a plumb line , wedge magazines under the
pavement slab and make sure the pole is vertical,
then any elevation adjustment I should do with the screw bolt ( instead of
wedging magazines as I prob did in the past. trying to guess at the right elevation)

any advice wot lnb to get... and where to phone up and order with debit card ?
prob order that little meter at the same time

anything else I should get hold of while Im at it ?

If you're just after 19.2e then just about any universal LNB with 40mm collar will do. Smart single LNB's are good, GT-Sat, Inverto Black......the choice is YOURS! Make a decision :). If you're registered with Ebay the sky's the limit!

I put a few wedges in an made the slab a bit more level...

but , you guessed, no signal in the technomate

Thinking about it though, the wall is the obvious place to mount a dish
this pole and slab set up is a pain

The wall is 90 degrees..... a moveable dish set up on the wall
set at 5 ft off the ground so I can get at it !

Sorry you haven't been able to make the existing dish work, but yes, a new motorised dish would be a lot easier.
The Channel Master 120 you have now is, as others have pointed out, overkill for 19.2E.
I get 19.2E on a 40 cm dish here in Denmark (!)
You should be will catered for with a 60 cm dish (Triax, Gibertini, Technomate, whatever) off an L-bracket on the wall.
Or an 80 cm one just to be sure you don't loose signal when the summer down-pours hit.
So for worry-free 19.2E, get a new dish on an L-bracket on the wall. Cheap, cheerful, practical.

Now, another story is your existing kit.
You have a Channel Master 120 on a polar mount.
Assuming you may deal with the rust on the mount one way or the other, the hardware is capable of recéiving thousands of channels with the addition of an actuator and a new LNB.
That is, of course, if you do find channel-hunting interesting.
Your existing kit could be a delxue version of a channel hunters dream, or could be a massive hassle to setup and maitain, depending on where you're coming from.

So... do you want 19.2E easy as possiblbe, or do you want to go feed-hunting?

The dish you have is actually very well built for

Im thinking that a 60 cm dish , mounted on the wall .. that I can move about
manually.... find hotbird...
from mem I think there are 3 big sats
Ive got astra wired in on a small dish high up on the wall
I was using this big dish to get hotbird and another one.... forgot the name

Getting rid of this slab and 1.2 metre dish would free up space for plants ....
But saying that, its obviously a piece of kit, that if properly set up could really let me search the
skies

Ill have to try and find some local expert.... maybe a pole fixed on the wall and attach this
1.2 metre dish to it ? if it was fixed and set on a proper arc... the sky is my oyster !

Two good sat and tv shops that were there 10 years ago... one where I got the slab an dish....
are now both gone
( though I think the son of one of the shops runs an ariel and sat business on line )

Think I might have to bite the bullet, consult an expert.... get a new tv ariel set up at the same
time and take a hit in the wallet !

The pole you have will go on the wall, turn the bracket the other way ;), buy an actuator like st1 says and stick what you have on the wall :).

It sounds like hat you really need is a 60-80 cm dish on a H2H motor.

But, depending on wallet and personal time, you have several options:

1) Motorise you existing antenna. Get an actuator + V-box (controller), and set up 120cm CM for feed-hunting. May be placed on wall as @martin-f says. Excellent results, but will require time and time to set-up and tune. If your get someone else to do it, even more cost.

2) Purchase an H2H (aka DiSEqC) motor, and a 60 or 80 cm dsh. Set-up dish according to guides on the forum, but be prepard to *fiddle* a lot to achieve max reception. Sell old dises on e-bay.

3) Get the know-how people in to procure and install an H2H motor and a 60 ot 80 cm dsh. Do consider the guys on this very forum - they know what they're doing.

Nevertheless, whichever route your choose to take - do remember that the people on this forum are eager to help. Just post!

Finally got sorted, the guy dismantled the huge 1.2 dish and
mounted a 60 cm dish on the wall... just above head height
with 2 lnbs set on hot bird and german astra.

I ve got a small dish higher up on the wall that sky put up
so Ive got access to 3 huge sats.

He said he could cut up the channel master, but I said no,
seems a pity to do that, some enthusiast could prob get a lot
of fun out of this old 1.2 metre channel master....

though the lnb has to be taped on where those three
pieces of metal come together, I gather thats a fault with
lots of the channel masters

The tech mate seems to be working well, but when I hit
edit to go and move some of the channels a pin window
comes up and I have to type in 0 0 0 0
and then do it again to finally get to the point of moving some channels

anyone know how to disable this stupid pin number business ?

Great glad your sorted :), just turn the password off in settings, you could put the dish in our for sale no trade section if you don't want it.
