Image not as clear as in digital

My Satellite Setup
2.40 m dish

I have just bought a Strong analog receiver (brand new) to get the French channels free on AB3. I also use a digital one and the picture is perfect on AB3 and Hotbird (same dish, same installation). However, when using the analog receiver, there is some 'snow' on the picture on all the channels. Would anyone have an idea why? Thanks.

Sparklies (normally black) on 5W are nothing new. Many receivers show them

You can perhaps see if there is a frequency offset in the receiver menu and see if offsetting the frequency reduces the sparklies.

Don't know your receiver, but there should be somewhere in your menu where you can offset the LNB local oscillator frequency plus or minus a few MHz. It's a case of trial and error - you should be able to watch the picture for improvements while doing the adjustments ( at least you could on my old Echostar analogue box).

Which model and where from??

Analogue satellite is always slightly grainy, even when there aren't any sparklies. But the lack of MPEG artefacts on the German channels makes up for this :)
Last time I saw the French analogue channels, however, the picture was generally poor - a combination of MPEG, PAL and SECAM artefacts all mixed together...
