According to flysat, the following TPs should be receivable in the Canary Islands :

2B south TP-16 (MGM HD UK - Sky Movies Family HD - Sky Movies Premiere HD
Sky Movies Crime & Thriller HD- Sky Anytime HD 1)

EB1 fixed TP-F2 (various channels inc. Euro News).

I am not receiving the 2B transmissions on either my 80cm or 2.4m Channel Master dish.
The EB1 transmissions are also normally not receivable, however occasionally in the mornings, they come through loud and clear (on both dishes).

Assuming the info. on Flysat is correct, I am wondering if there is some local transmissions that could be swamping reception.

Can anyone here throw any light on this. I am particularly keen to watch "MGM HD".

Hi Blueplatinum,

There seems to be a difference of opinion, King of Sat says TP16 is 12012 V 2B North not South.

Due to my recent problems (See thread about CBS Action) I checked and out of all Astra and Eurobird channels the only problems I have are with:

Nothing
All 2D Vert.
11992 H 2B North
12012 V 2B North
12480 V 2A North
12304 H 2B North
12246 V 2A South (why South, North yes, but South?)
12304 H 2B North

Weak
12560 V Eurobird

Its all to do with LNB matching and alignment. No I know you have changed to an Inverto Ultra, but have you tried a Channel Master feedhorn on your CM dish? I think if not you need to try one with an Invacom C120 LNB. You will then need to align between 28.2 and 28.5, but I think your 2.4 is slightly too small. I have seen a CM here aligned to get 2D and Eurobird Steerable, but 2D brealks up early in the evening with the slightest cloud.

Lots of trial and error.

We should meet up at some time as you are not too far from me, I must go past yours on the way to Alcampo.

Yes. Looks like the flysat listing for TP16 is wrong. It is on the North beam :-(

As far as the EuroNews TP goes, there is something very odd about it. When it works, it works down to an 80cm dish (as the footprint suggests), but when it doesn't work (which is most of the time in my experience) even the big dish won't pick it up. I see you also have problems with this TP ! Do you think there may be some local (possibly illegal) transmission causing that frequency to become blocked? Is anyone else in GC or other Canary Islands experiencing the same thing ? Does anyone else here have any theories as to why this might happen ?

There are people in the UK who started experiecing problems when I did on 12560 etc, so I think its a problem at the service providers end.

Well I am sure EuroNews and the other channel providers on that TP would not be impressed to find out that their programming was not being received by viewers. Maybe we should collate the evidence from the forums and pass it on to them.
