Not exactly a recognised sport ...
But my new Superior dark motor arrived by courier just after 9 AM ..
Unpacked and a strong cuppa inside me ..
Up went the ladders to the TD88
Down came the whole dish and SG2100 motor ..
Pole checked for vertical ..TD88 removed from the SG2100 and fitted at ground level to the Dark motor...elevation angle reset to accomodate the new motor ..
A mark had been left on the pole to give me rough South ..
The whole assembly carried up the ladder and popped on the pole ..
Adjusted everything using the 600HD pro meter I bought last year...
Then nipped home as the TD88 is mounted at the back of my dads house 3 doors down ..
Checked alignment using RASD @45 west ...and MIR at 66 East ..and of course BBC world news at 0.8W ..
results on the F15 showed RASD at 9.2 db
MIR fluctuating(as expected 2db to 6.2 DB)
BBC World (13.5 db)

..and all this in under 1 hour 30 minutes...
A new personal best for me ...but sadly not a medal event..
;)

Not as yet Gordon ..
Much to do outside ..and a few glorious days to do it in ..
Hopefully I'll get a chance when the weather turns nasty again ..which will no doubt be sunday...as its the only day I get a full day off..
typical ...but we shall see..
Ever the pessimist...its what living in Manchester does to you..
:)

Is that the motor that has the LED display on top of the gearbox ?

There is a red flashing led visible from near the f connectors ...when you stand below and look up ..
But an actual display ??
I haven't seen anything of that ilk
This is the one that bears the name Als@t ..and is claimed to drive up to 1.4 mtrs at high speed..
I'd eye that claim with suspicion ...but certainly it handles a heavyweight TD110 without any probs that I've seen..
I now have 2 of these on my triax dishes ..having been suitably impressed with the one I fitted on my bigger triax..
When the Sg2100 started to show its age (well over 5 years of service) ...it seemed natural to replace it with another SDM.
