Hi all,
The time has come unfortunatly for me to bow to the aussie one they call Murdoch and get a sub for sky+.(Lost series 3 arggggggghhhhh))(-red
I already have a motorised system that includes a Gemini 90 and a Technomate 5500 super.

My questions are as follows,
Is it best to keep the two systems seperate or can they in any way be intergrated, reducing external cabling,if not possible,I would prefer the installer to mount the 60cm dish on my existing pole under my Gemini 90,the only way to access that pole is via a flat garage roof, will the installer go up there and mount the sky dish?.(I don't want it mounted anywhere else)
I would like to have the cable entry tidy,so if I pre-drill and mount a flush twin coax wall outlet, will the installer wire up to and from the outlet plate,I also need to pre-fit a telephone outlet near to the box,a serious pain the arse as the nearest phone wall outlet is 4 metres away from the TV, and having wood flooring, not being able to hide cable under the carpet.
Also, do the installers carry DSL filters on the van?
Thanks in advance for the replys

Best regards
Mark.

Yes, it is best to have a totally separate dish and twin cable run.

If it is a Sky Installer, he may not go on the garage roof, but most contractors will, even if they won't connect to an outlet, if you get them to run through the socket, direct to the box, you can always connect it yourself afterwards, make sure the patress is deep enough, not just 25mm. :).

They don't to my knowledge carry ADSL filters, in fact I don't know of many installers who do.

PS. It is unlikely to be a 60cm dish, it will be a standard minidish if you are in Essex.

Thanks for the reply Rolf,
Do you see any problems if I were to purchase the Sky+ box, dish, lnb and cabling and do my own install.
I think that I would prefer to go that route,at least I know that the install had been done to "my spec" (No offence to any Sky installer intended) and any problems with the access to and using flat roof would be overcome.
Is it possible to go the Ebay or independant retailer route to get the bits I need, then phone sky for the channel and recording facility to be activated.

Thanks again

If you recommend a friend you will get a free sky+ box.

There is nothing like self satisfaction m8, want a job done right, do it your self! No offence to any Sky installer intended:)
