Hi, does anyone on here fit Sat boxes in the Algarve?
Regards

Quoted for Portmaio early last year, what are you hoping to receive ?

Intelsat 907, Going off the thread title :p

How is a quote for the satellite and region 'going off the thread' ?

You mean 'off topic', that's not what I meant? He's obviously trying to receive BBC satback on Intelsat 907 @ 27.5w I would guess...... going of the thread title.

Everything you want to know about Intelsat 907 can be found on this thread. Although it is old, too many have not changed to 27.5W.

Intelsat has updated their "Estimated End Of Life" expectancy for I907 (Intelsat 907) to Q1 2020.

IIRC the previous was Q4 2019.

Big deal so they have given IS 907 another 3 months at geostationary orbit then it may go inclined orbit or be replaced by another satellite.

Currently empty Intelsat satellites that may move to 27.5 west :-
Intelsat 36 @ 68.5°E has been on standby for over 2 years & 7 months,
Intelsat 9 (incl. 4.8°) 66.2°E
Intelsat 12 (incl. 1.8°) 64.2°E
Intelsat 26 (incl. 8.4°) 62.2°E
Intelsat 904 (moving 0.4°W/day) 26.4°E
Intelsat 901 (incl. 0.9°) ----29.5°W
Intelsat 903 ------------------ 31.5°W
Intelsat 29e (moving 1.1°E/day) 48.0°W

901 is due to move to graveyard & be rescued back to geostationary by the MEV life extension mission in the not too distant future.

Intelsat-901, a 17-year-old communications satellite running low on propellant, is awaiting a first-of-its-kind service call from a robotic spacecraft carrying a fresh tank of fuel.

Orbital ATK’s first Mission Extension Vehicle, MEV-1, is slated to launch in early next year on a groundbreaking mission to dock with Intelsat-901 and take over orbital station-keeping duties, extending the satellite’s service life by several more years.

MEV2 is already booked, but Intelsat are keeping quiet about which bird is to be rescued.

Until Q1 2020 this Intelsat can still be interested in besides the BBC package.Recently I discovered two transponders IP over DVB with TV /radio streams, namely:
11610 V,4374,3/4,Dvb-S2/8PSK,ACM,Single-Siminn Radiomidun: Pid-512,U:228.5.6.8,Siminn TV stream
11689 V,500,8/9,Dvb-S2-Irish Q Radio stream,six tracks.
Use PotPlayer to run the files.

The radio streams are interesting, what could they possibly be for?

I think most TV / radio program providers resort to this mode of satellite transmission for a clear reason. 1. The costs for renting such a transponder for streams is much lower than usual, and for that you do not have to have expensive equipment.2.These programs are addressed to a client, probably local(radio stations, residential centers, etc.),who also has the right equipment to receive such streams. And because of these reception devices dedicated to this type of stream reception cannot be accessed by a wider audience.Even we,as dxrs, find these streams difficult to detect. We're lucky with the dvbs apps we have,so we wouldn't even know these streams existed.
In fact streams with media content will be generalized and in the future will be the main mode of distribution via satellite, terrestrial, etc.At least that seems to be the trend at the moment...

Q Radio is a network of a few local radio stations in Northern Ireland. These satellite streams will be to feed their FM transmitters (with I guess six different local versions with separate adverts!).

Satellite is a fairly cost effective way of doing this. Just like the French stations on 5°W (11455H including some DVB-IP ones like these/11480H) and Spanish and Portuguese ones on 30°W.

And I've just checked that file you linked to with the Q Radio streams in. Sure enough they're the six versions of Q Radio in Northern Ireland (all of them except the Belfast version which is the HQ), so these are very likely to be feeding the FM transmitter networks.

Each PID is a 128kbps AAC stream as follows -

Code:
0x65 101 Q Radio North West 102.9 FM
0xc9 201 Q Radio Newry & Mourne 100.5 FM
0x12d 301 Q Radio Tyrone & Fermanagh 101.2 FM
0x191 401 Q Radio Mid Ulster 106 FM
0x1f5 501 Q Radio Mid Antrim 107 FM
0x259 601 Q Radio North Coast 97.2 FM
