interesting cccam/inadyn/isp problem

Ok, the obvious problem. Client does not work. When I try and check CCCAM clients I get connection refused error message. When I check INADYN I see InaDyn is in status 'stopped'. When I try to restart it nothing happens ie. Inadyn service is hung (this is all on Nabilosat 0.12). Restarting CCCam has no effect. The only solution is to reboot dreambox. So here's my take. My ISP does not supply static IP addresses, so I use Dyndns to get over this. During the day the system works perfectly but in the morning the system is hung. I figure that the ISP force releases all dynamic addresses during the night. It seems that Inadyn cannot handle not getting a response to an update request to dyndns and simply hangs. So has anyone any idea how I can get over the lack of an internet connection when inadyn puts in its request. I have timeout on router changed from 1 minute (default when router arrived to me) to 3 hours and I update dyndns every 30 minutes. How can I get over this hang problem with inadyn.
 
The best way is to let your router handle the update, Most routers have Dynamic DNS clients, so check your router menu when you login as admin, or see the manual,

This is only trouble-free way to update you DYN DNS.

Haggar, maybe this is the way to go. As you suggest i have updated the router config. However the router menu does not suggest how often the dnydns address is updated. on the dreambox you can update the ip on a timed basis be it 15, 30 or 60 minutes. as you understand its critical that once your address changes then dyndns must be updated. how does the router work this so that any change in address is immediately updated on dyndns. if this solution works i can kill inadyn completely as inadyn seems t have major issues not getting an update response from dyndns
 
The router actually update DYNDNS immediately after you ISP server changed your ip, Hence you have put user and pass for dyn, update will be immediately. It not following the same principle as inadyn, inadyn checks ip according to given time by user. Router does it immediately, once ip changed it will tell DYNS server. I think you would have to kill inadyn and let the router does the job for you.
 
Thanks haggar, have killed inadynand left it to the router to do the job. so far no complaints from friends/clients. will report back tomorrow on this, seems like a good solution.
