You don't need all the mirrors, you can sand the dish down and use some good quality aluminum paint, just be sure to do this in the shade or in the garage.

I re-finished an old 6 foot fiberglass dish one time, I had to sand it down to bare fiberglass and do some patching (bullet holes) when I was applying the reflective aluminum coating I accidentally brought my hand across the focal point, I got a bad burn, (the very last time I did that outdoors) with the proper holder you can boil water and cook things real fast.

The Mythbusters did something similar with an old C-Band dish, it was pretty cool, and hot when it was in the sun... :D

I would upload a picture of their creation, but I can't seem to find one... :confused:
 
No point trying anything like that up here this summer - bog all sun :D

Too much work. Stick-on silvering for car windows is cheap and ideal.

No, the only time I go near to Derby is to catch the plane back here..........

Had I been from Hartlepool however, you could extend the time well past an hour (awaits verbal abuse from the home of the 'monkey hangers')

Out west in the USA we still have people that shoot at things that move/don't move, remote radio and TV sites are one place that get a lot of bullet holes in things, I use to loose a lot of security cameras until they came up with better bullet shielding.

In Detroit they only shoot at people that drive foreign made cars, there is a game there that if you can hit the two "O's" in Toyota with your 9mm you win a 40 ounce malt liqueur.

And I live out in the real west, I wear a 9mm or 44 mag to keep the rattle snakes away. (and sometimes salesmen)

When I was in Phoenix a few years ago I was told that the giant cactuses in the Arizona desert were becoming endangered due to bullet damage.

Thats because the "Two" legged drug mules like to hide behind them and the ranch hands that do private patrol along the border at night don't have night vision goggles, until they put up the 40 foot tall concrete, steel, razor wire and electrified fence with a 20 foot deep foundation you tend to shoot at things at night that look like drug mules,(that's because they shoot back) if they would supply the ranchers with night vision goggles it would be a bit easier on the cactus.
