Interface with Fortec Star Ultimate via USB?

Hello peeps. Could anybody tell me if i can connect via one of the USB ports on my 'Time' AMD Athlon 1800+ (no RS232 port),to Fortec Star Ultimate, or would I need to rag it to the desktop.:D

Would it auto detect port or would i have to somehow tell coms to use USB port? Anybody got one of these or similar?

i have a FORTEC STAR 5100 and i connect from usb on my laptop to serial on the receiver.

to do this i use a serial cable with a serial-usb converter i bought in maplins.

Can anyone tell me which file type to select plz.

I have downloaded USB Linker from _www.fortecstar.com:)

I have downloaded latest ********_api.bin from
_www.al7bar.....

The following file types are available to download to receiver:-

1) Boot + App (merged file)
2) App file only
3) Boot file only
4) Channel Data File

Which is the 'firmware file' ? My guess is 2)...... Or is it 1)?

I think i need to ask the audience. :confused: Can anybody help plz?

Don't know about the Ultimate, but I haven't needed to update to a new boot file on my 5100. Just the app.

Check your system information against the latest boot and app. If they're an earlier version, the merged file looks the one to try.

As with any 'unofficial' files, problems can arise, but you can always revert to downloading the official software if things go awry.
