Interference on the telly

The last week or so we have started getting short burst of interference a couple of times a day.

It gives regular lines across the picture. Ive managed to get a screencap of the interference this evening.

Any ideas as to the possible sources as to this sort of interference.

Some facts.

We live out in the middle of nowhere and there are no transmitter masts or anything like that anywhere near.

Ive been trying to listen to hear if any cars are going past on the minor road at the end of the garden (my thought was a car going past with a radar jammer in it)

its for about 10 seconds a couple of times an evening - a few minutes to 7 seems to be a major effect

We had to dismantle all the satellite kit as we were decorating and its only been noted since I put it all back together.

All our satellite distribution is done via rf and its appearing on all the channels and on various tvs.

We dont get much interference up here so Im hopeful someone might have seen summat similar & give me an idea what might be causing it.

Are you adjacent to any Farms?

What sort of Boiler do you have?
 
Looks like what in old days were called hum bars ...
hum bars were usually electrolytic caps in psu's drying up ...
..not quite sure with that one though ...hum loop in the earth return ..
Something not grounded ...or indeed grounded twice at different points ..creating a potential variance in the ground/earthing line ..
There is another obscure possibility ..
Apparently there was a quite hefty solar flare last week ..
Maybe good 'ole sol is still unstable and errupting flares like mad ..

Looks like a chewed up video tape to me
 
Most definitely not a chewed up video tape :D

(Ah the kids today dont know the agony of having a favourite programme video tape mangled by a video player!)
 
Is that going through that Spaun multiswitch i gave you a few years back?

The only time i've seen that is when a switch is about to fail :D

Do i detect i shouldn't be putting that old Delta multiswitch on ebay just yet.

The Spaun went wrong a while back - Ive got a Antiference distro amp in place now.

I presume that the bars are more or less static?
 
Not really static. I'll try and grab a vid clip next time it happens.
 
Well if it's rolling slowly down the screen, then it'll be amp power supply.
 
More like quick jitter but clearly defined greyish lines.
 
But you mentioned it happens at similar times each day ..................... hence question about boiler: For any system, maybe a dodgy room stat? For an Oil-fired jobbie, they have a modular control box fitted at the burner that has all sorts of rely-type contacts that can stick, bounce etc.
 
No central heating boilers anywhere near - the cottages arent equipped with such luxuries as ch. We have to throw a few more peasants on the open fire when it goes a tad chilly.
 
That's the stuff ................. put a light cardie on over the top of your T-Shirt once the icicles begin forming on the inside of the windows.

If it's happening at approximately the same time each night it does sound like something run off a timed switch. I've got loads of electric fences near me (including the one round my meadow) and have never had any interference, even when it shorts to earth and produces a healthy spark!
 
Does it happen on a portable radio (static at the same time as interference on the TV)? Would eliminate/confirm the earthing/power issues (I think).
