Interference on the telly

Dunno CJ - we rarely have the radio on apart from at breakfast to listen to the local news. Will have to try it - and connect a scart up from one of the receivers to see if I can isolate it down a bit.

If it's happening at regular intervals, at about the same time every day, then it has to be something on a timer, a security light perhaps, or the starting capacitor in a pump for the hot water circuit on a stove boiler (Central heating may not exist up there, but, you have to heat up the water somehow!!), or an arcing relay in said timer, I'd just start looking for any timers in your home and try disabling them to see if they change the effect... :)

Immersion heater in the tank (kicks in after 2300) and pipes running through the back of the fireplace. These cottages havent had much money spent on them for the last 50 years or so :D

We only got double glazing about 4 years back - and that was only because all the window frames were completely rotten

A local ham, or CB radio nut ?

Somebody tapping into your power supply ?

You'd go way beyond 58W with the line of sight advantage that mast could give - tricky maintenance though!

I wish you'd posted that a few months ago when I had a faulty power supply on my TV amp. Took me a couple of days to figure it out.

With regards to AS's interference, could it be a dodgy energy saver bulb starting up?

Not in our house - its been happening when we are both sitting down watching the telly.

Hmm might be getting a bit closer - I think its SWMBO's mobile phone!

Shes had it on charge tonight and its sitting on top of the dvd. home theatre system. It must have been trying to contact the network as I could hear it causing electronic intereference to the sound on the dvd we are watching (2010 the year we make contact) At the same time the rf signal from the dreambox to my computer got the intereference lines on it.

Never seen that level of interference from a phone before - maybe one of the cables is badly shielded.!
 
It did cross my mid AS as my wife's antique brick makes a similar racket and bars on the TV when she charges it in a certain point in the bedroom, I have never found out why but always assumed it was the length of trailing lead
 
I've found that the charger itself on both my wife's phone and my phone cause ineterference to an FM radio near to the wall socket in the kitchen. They appear to be very RF dirty.

Could well be a mobile, I have a rather cheap phone from hongkong and it bleads over tvs using rf and fm radio too if it`s close by, I`ve not tried it with SWMBO`s iphone yet but I think that`ll be the same

Every now and then the mobiles will try to contact the base station/mast and the base station/mast sends back a stay alive command so that the phone stays on network, if you have really poor signal your mobile ups its output power to keep connected to the network, this kills off the battery and can give tvs and radios a bit more chew lol
 
Off topic but surely rf is rather bad picture quality, how come you are using this ?

rgb scart from receiver to tv will be better.

Are you still not using your vu+ duo ?
