hi all since moving in to my new home i have a interference on my Freesat box.

basically i trying the norm (moving my DECT phone away) renewing cables etc etc and nothing working.

the only thing different from my previous home is the new home has wall mounted sockets (2x male out the wall) wire from the dish to the socket is run internally up the wall via the loft to the dish.

Other than seeing if the dish is aligned correctly i dont know what it could .... im assuming the dish is ok because 90% of the channels are ok with a Strength 89% qulity 100%

its mainly the music / children's channels that are effected and with a 2yr old daughter this is becoming quite important lol.

ive taken the socket off the wall and rewired them but no different. one thing i will say tho is it i touch the outside of the F connector the picture will egt better (still not watchable but a noticeable increase).

the wire from the sock to the HD box is fine as its been used before in my previous home (i took it with me because it cost me quite alot of money in case i had this very problem)

thats about all really guy n gals. i hope someone can give me some advice on this please

Many thanks in advnace and thanks for taking the time to read this

How does the interference manifest itself? ie Is it blockiness (pixellation) or total absence of the affected Channels?

What is your location and dish size?

What make/model Receiver are you using?

oh sorry forgot the mention that.....

its pixelated (green blocks and lines)

its a humax Foxsat HD freesat receiver (just stranded one)

the dish is located back of the house (south facing) about 1-2ft below the gutter (dish cant be moved)...its a brand new house and when they were built they installed the same dishes in the same place on every house but my neighbors are not having my problem

not to sure about the dish size... but by eye it looks about the same size of the ones sky install (im assuming the average size dish)

Could be several things, slight misalignment, bad connections in the loft, or even poor quality outlet plate or cable. Have you tried swapping the two cables on the box?

no i havent tried different cables to the box as its a good cable i used to use in my old home im just assuming that cable is fine

there is not connections in the loft ... the dish has 4 cables coming out... 2 run directly down the wall to the living room and the other 2 run down the same wall but to the upstairs bedroom (directly down the wall meaning internally)

also something that just dawned on me does it matter the the wall socket is mounted directly next to a double mains socket (plug socket)
other than that it must just be slightly out of line like i said all my neighbors are ok and there fitted with the same cable and dishes and mounted in the same place (with the plug socket next to the wall socket) im really baffled :(

Depending upon how you get on with your new neighbours, you could learn much by substitution: Your box on their dish/connections; Their box on yours.

I think you can discount Mains borne interference.

I'd lay odds on your dish isn't properly aligned.

Either that, or the LNB is not compatible with the Foxsat: Sounds daft, I know, but there have been not infrequent reports form others (myself included) who've found the Foxsat a bit picky in that respect.

i could try there box on mine i suppose, although they have the same box lol maybe i will still try as i could just have a dodgy box.

how do we explain that when when i touch the earth of the F connector the quality of the picture increases ? like isaid before its not 100% but it dose make a BIG difference

hello,
there could be several problems here.
scew off sould affect weaker channels bbc 1 and bbc2 itv on astra 2 d.
dish out of alignment would effect weaker channels.
bad cable ground ,by tuching it it gets better.
if all the 4 lines are all giving you the same problem then its is not the cable ground.
the lnb should be twisted in the holder about 15 degrees.if it is streight then the weak channels will be effected
free view on astra 2 d.
