My Satellite Setup
windows xp i dont have a satellite at present

Hi I wonder if anyone could help me i live in a tower block and can't have a dish outside,i face due south and don't know if a dish inside would work my windows are double glazed.Thank you.

I got astra 2 through double glazing here on a 1m dish. Ok not all channels (ie 2D) but I am a long way from you. You can still end up with some extra useful channels even if you dont get them all. The only prob you may have is if you have Pilkinton K glass. I believe that really degrades the signal. Probably unlikely to be if windows more than 6 years old. Anyway, get down to your local boot sale and get a cheap dish and box and give it a try!
 
over the years there have been a number of threads on this subject. A search will show up the links to them.
My freesat dish is in a D/G green house and works a treat.

Im sorry for that, i don't know which section is the right one,that was my first go,i've looked for hours and couldn't find a thread,not really sure what a thread means,you must think im a real thicko.. bobbysocks
 
A thread is just a collection of posts answering one particular question or discussion of a particular topic. Therefore all the answers to your initial question constitute a thread :)

If you look on the section indexes each topic is a thread - some of them are very long and run to multiple pages, some of them weill be just two or three posts.
 
Glass can do weird things, as mentioned above all you can do is try. I have a dish behind a single pane of glass on a balcony but I can only get horizontally polarized signals! (So I'm missing the other half of the channels broadcasting vertically).

I have triple glazing on the windows in my lounge and haven't managed to get anything at all through those.

might not be the glass causing the loss of vert signals, might be position of dish. Remember years ago sorting out problems where Sky installers had placed mini dish just under eaves. Many channels missing. Moving dish down wall cured problem. Maybe the roof of your balcony is causing similar problems. Maybe if possible you could try the dish lower down.

NO, cos the doors and vents are open during the day. The greenhouse does not get any hotter than, say south med or egypt.

I wish it was that simple! The dish is already as low as I can get it for good signals. When I move the glass panels away I get full signal on the verticals.
