internet connection sharing

i have just linked two pc's together using an ethernet cable and i can tranfer files from one to the other but i can't use the internet does anyone know why?

What operating systems are they running, what kind of internet connection do you have (dial up, ADSL etc) and have you set up any internet connection sharing software?

they both have windows xp pro and ones got an adsl connection and i am trying to use windows xp internet connection sharing

Have you got any firewalls running on either PC?

Internet connection sharing is picky about things like that, but if you haven’t it normally works quite well.

How did you set it up (with a wizard or manually)?

i some how got it working now after playing with zone alarms thanks anyway
