Invacom LNB Quad vs Quattro - performance

I was wondering if anyone has investigated if the Invacom Quattro, due to not having any inner switch and more simpler electronics, could actually beat the Quad version from Invacom which is said to be one of the best fro fringe areas.

I've bought one Quattro and I am doing some tests, band by band, and having good results comparing with the previous single I had. I just do not have the Quad to compare, hence this post... Now, I plan on using maybe a 4x1 diseqc switch (a good quality one, with good VSWR and low insertion loss) to select the right band/output.

There are also good switches available for Quattro LNBs, like inverto Unicable and others, which could not degrade very much the signal.

What are your thoughts?

My antena is a 180cm Prime Focus with Invacom adjustable feedhorn (in this setup).
 
You would need a multiswitch rather than DiSeqc switches to utilise a Quattro LNB.

It a question I have pondered upon as well. I don't have an answer though.

One further point. If a Quattro is simpler inside; why is it more expensive than a Quad?
 
If I wanted to pick up signal I would switch to a Famaval feed. They are really good. Personally not keen on the adjustable one.

Hi,

There is no reason you can't use a 4x1 diseqc switch. You will have to consider to have 4 different satellites and select each "fake satellite" based on the band/polarisation you want to use.

In my location, I can get the Quattro cheaper than the Quad. And on the Invacom shop too. (C120 versions).

Good to know. My antenna is either a Famaval or Marrafa. Can't be sure...
Do you know how to recognise a Famaval feed on sale, or where can I find one? Will they always be branded?

PS: my current "fixed" feehorn I also have is a IRTE one. But for Invacom I use theirs, as I noted a big difference in this Quattro while using the IRTE or the Invacom feed.

True I suppose. But it does seem a bit like reinventing the wheel to do it that way.

Sorry, I was thinking of the LNBFs for offset dishes. Mind you, it's been some since I loked at a price list and those might have changed as well!
 
I considered the diseqc 4x1 switch for test purposes as I install the Invacom Quattro, or as a workaround while I find the best multiswitch for my case... It is not very much user friendly as I will have to edit 4 (new) satellites on my receiver just for having one right, but will do for now.
 
Horrid solution. Why not just fit the correct LNB (and feed)?
