Won't ever touch Apple phones (although my stepson is an Apple "person") - tied into a regime I don't like and too f***ing expensive all round. We always buy unlocked lower-midrange phones outright, and so can choose what, and from where, we buy them - currently I have a Moto G 3rd Gen and SWMBO has a 4th Gen one (which she loves!) for about £160 each for phones with quad-core processors, very good screens, 2GB of RAM & 16GB of internal storage (+ microSD cards as well). We also use separate SIM-only deals: - I have a £7.50 a month for 500MB and 250 mins SIM on Giffgaff- and0 I never get anywhere close to the limits (except once, on another data-only Giffgaff SIM, when I started using OneDrive to sync between my home laptop and the little net-top with a 3G dongle that I took to work and that ate my data-limit in 4-5 days). - SWMBO has a Virgin £10/month voice & data SIM for her phone (mainly because we also have Virgin broadband & landline), and we both have £5/month Giffgaff 500MB data-only SIMS for our 4G tablets for when we are out and about or abroad. (Just got her a lovely Huawei Mediapad M3 for her birthday - looking very good so far).
