I've got a Telergy T502 IPTV box sitting here which powers up and gives a lovely image of the onscreen menus but not a lot else . As a receiver it is rather disappointing, absolutely nothing other than an ethernet socket, USB, HDMI/SCART and PSU on the back. The remote control isn't bad though

Since the subscription that came with the box has expired it was given to me for parts by the customer who has no more use for it. It was originally for Arabic channels but they now have another box completely since moving house.

Am I right in thinking there is absolutely no way this can be used for another service, or is it possible to fiddle with the incoming protocol in the ethernet delivery, that might liberate a few channels, even if they are only free to air?

Are these devices really useless bits of electronics when there is no subscription ?
 
Btw there are plenty of Youtube videos of other boxes being set up, but the T502 is nowhere to be seen (so far) .


 
What's it got under the bonnet? If its reasonably standard hardware (or possibly a rebadged something else), it could be possible to reflash it with alternative software to make it useful, what that would be I haven't a clue though...
 
It's a Telergy T502, that is all it says underneath the case. Though If I get some time later I'll plug her in and look through the setup menu (I might even take the lid off seeing this is in the work bench section)

I was given a Boxee box and tried a few Kodi versions on it but they are very unstable. The problem the hackers have with it is that it refuses to boot any firmwares that are not signed by d-link and without a newer Linux version it will never run Kodi smoothly. Maybe the T502 is easier.
 
Thanks for the last bit of information. I did get into the menus based on the link in the initial post and was able to update the url to the one described, however that service (miracle TV) is now looking at a user account and password, and there is nothing available without these on the broadcast.
