Irdeto vs Irdeto free

Can some one tell me what is the difference between an Irdeto cam and an Irdeto free cam?

The Freecam was an unofficial version of the firmware which when loaded into the irdeto cam turned it into something more useful.

The are many versions of the Irdeto cam and Freecam can only be loaded on the early versions.
 
my cam says irdeto common interface ver:1.06 softcell ver 2.09 - Demux

what makes it more useful than the irdeto cam?

That's a irdeto2 cam, and it can't be converted to a freecam.

Useful for official cards only. Unless you have a high end receiver like a Nokia9600.
