IRIB

hmm, well the receiver and dish aren't really a problem, I'm willing to spend as much as it takes on a receiver, dish and anything else I need to receive IRIB channels 1-5 as long it's a little stable and the channels aren't off for too long.

You could spend hundreds - and find the channels disappear the day after you get set up. there are no guarantees in satellite tv reception.
 
ah I see, Pontiend how did you receive those channels? What satellite do I need to search?
 
It'll be the new DVB-S2 channels we were discussing earlier on Yamal.
 
Oh alright, atm when I go to "Satellite Setup" all of the satellites are just blank because of the rain I'm guessing, I'll try and search for it again soon.
 
Lets go back to first principles.

Are you motorised or using a fixed dish
 
You can find also many Iranian channels including IRIB 1-5 from 20E (C-band). Surely it needs little bit of bigger dish (dvb-s2 rec. also). Its strong satellite here far north and UK guys maybe tells what size of dish it needs there..?

You wont get multiple satellites on a fixed dish.

Its a common mistake to make, but all the satellites use roughly the same frequency bands. Therefore if you scan satellite A you will get all the channels on satellite A.

If you then scan satellite B you will get some of the same channels appearing - where the frequencies in use coincide.

If you are using a Sky dish for example then you will only ever get the channels from the satellite cluster at 28E. You need to slew the dish around to get anything else.
 
Your not the first person to get caught out, and you certainly wont be the last!

The receiver doesn't know what the satellite is transmitting. Its just accessing a data table inside the gubbins of the box.

All Ku band satellites in Europe use frequencies between 10700MHz & 12750MHz. This can be explained best by looking at these two frequency charts.

1) "Sky UK" Astra 28E http://www.flysat.com/28east.php

2) "German TV" Astra 19E http://www.flysat.com/astra19.php
 
I searched for 20E C-band 11002 H 21500 3/4 and I got 6 "Rai" channels, there are also a few other options on the search thing that I don't really understand :/

Your dish is aligned onto Hotbird 13E.

You cant get C-band without a new lnb, & a bigger dish - it uses frequencies below 4500MHz, instead of above 10700MHz used in Ku band.
 
LNB = the bit on the end of the dish arm that collects the signals.

Now hold your horses - very few people in the UK have C-band reception kit, in fact on this entire forum there are maybe only a dozen C-band enthusiasts active. I havent seen any reports at all of reception of the IRIB stuff on 20E here in the UK as its a reasonably new set of signals.
 
Ah this is all so confusing haha :D I'll have to look into it a lot more once I've moved house
 
Ive managed to scan the IRIBs on 55E on my 1.1m dish.

Its VERY marginal though, no chance of getting it when it is raining.
