It will work but really IRS systems need a good front end carrier to Noise, S/N ratio as switches generate noise so 80cm is the norm. If your only fitting one switch then should be no probs.

V5 is a line powered system yes, but if one switch is required, you can get a single switch up to a 24 outlet for short, medium and long cable runs..... more than ample for a domestic set up.

Are you also aware that with a multiswitch you have to use a quattro lnb and not a quad lnb. You may also have issues attaching a quattro to a zone 2 sky dish.

If you are using the Vision V75 range, a QUAD will work as those switches have Q2 technology

only reason i asked about two switches is i have access to two v5-508 switches rather than buy a new bigger switch

You will need something like Vision V5-100T Amp/PSU and a Vision V5-204 5 way splitter to feed your 508 line powered switches.

How many feeds?

How long are the cable runs?

What type cabling is in place?

You shouldn't have any problems with signal loss as the cable runs are not too long. The Amp will lift levels but you will need to make sure your 'IF' signals are in the window of operation at the outlets.

Don't forget your requirements to earth the system as part of BS EN 60728:11

This means that anything more than a Sky Plus and aerial at ONE point needs earthing, even in a domestic set up...
