Hi,

I've come a bit late to this discussion, but can confirm that a Smart Titanium 0.1dB LNBF gives about 3dBs stronger signal at the Rx than an official CM feedhorn and a 0.3dB Inverto at 12.643V.

This seems completely bonkers. How can the tiny integral feedhorn on the Smart do a better job of matching to the dish than the manufacturer's own specially made feedhorn ? I would love to hear a technical explanation of this. Surely the official feedhorn isn't underilluminating the dish ??

I also wonder if somehow combining the sensitivity of the Smart and the matching of the CM feedhorn would make the dream combination :)

I have a CM 1.2 offset dish by the way.

Cheers,
Geoff.

That's just telling you the amplification of the Smart LNB circuitry. C/N or CBER readings would be a lot more useful.

I will note them next time I'm measuring and let you know. (have to run the spectrum analyser plugin app on my Relook 400s to get actual figures). Speaking unscientifically, I certainly noticed an improvement in picture quality with the Smart - less breakup in heavy rain etc.

Any comments on the poor performance of the correctly matched CM feedhorn vs the Smart ? Or the possibility of fitting a flange to the Smart so it could be bolted to the feedhorn ?

You have probably got a bad sample of Inverto LNB as most LNBs today aren't even in performance.

I ordered 3 Inverto Flansch LNBs and one of them was much worse than the other two.

I have also tried a brand new Inverto and got much the same results.
