hello, since bbc1 .2,3 itv ch 4 ch5 E-4 and all free view and can be received here in naples italy with a 1.2 meter dish ,in spain i would say it should be fine with your 1.4 meter dish.
have someone check your alignment and lnb sceu to see if it is spot on.
there is something out of alignment

Recently my reception is mostly OK even in to the evenings on ITV 2, 3 & 4. The original question was is there a new service/satallite because I had received an email offering UK TV with a 1m dish and, if you already had an installation then they offered a re-positioning service. As I could not possibly have achieved any reception with 1m dish I wondered if there was something new up there. In this thread I have discovered that Astra 1N is probably the reason for my improved service recently but as I gather, also from this thread, that the 1N is not staying there I am still pussled as to what Telitec can be offering. They are a legitimate company, as they provide my telephone and broadband, so I can't imagine that this is only a temporary offering.

As you can see from the email below it isn't the broadband offer I am refering to.

I am aware of the details you provided but the question I posed about a new satellite service offering stems from this advert which is clearly for a satellite installation.

my guess would be they have got some sort of arrangement or hack in place to get teh chanenls from anotehr satillete, i know bbc are on 27.5w but it liek backup transmission it not for oridinary viewers to use it, but i think there is backups on other satillettes to i am guessing that is what they meant

The email from telitec is nothing special - lots like it being sent around the costa in Spain this last few weeks.

There is no "new service".
All they are offering is that they can install a dish aligned to 28 east and box to get the channels direct from the satellite, taking advantage of the signal of 1N and the availability of the mainstream UK channels being available on a 1m dish...albeit temporary - which all these mass emails conveniently dont mention.

And their special "smart box" that allows the addition of other channels via third party could read "cardsharing".

It is offered in addition to their internet tv service, (which at times stops and starts with buffering its like Norman Collier is back on telly!!)

The "re-positioning service" is just a "if your curent dish is not aligned to 28e properly to receive these channels, then we can realign it for you" - not move it to another satellite.

If you already have a dish of suitable size and at 28 east , then you will not gain anything by joining this.

The email was sent out en mass to all their clients, and it covers their clients along the spanish east coast, where a 1m dish would suffice, however maybe a big larger is requried in mallora??

thanks for the input; sounds like you have the measure of it. Sounds like you might have had experience of Telitec as well.

That sounds like the answer to your question Telitec may be a legitimate but certainly not being honest about the duration of the service on offer via satellite.

It really sounds bad doesn't it! You pay your €350,00 upfront for a really solid service from 1N (as it is now) and then 1N is moved leaving you with the quality of service from before and they can claim it isn't their fault. I don't see any refund coming for a poor level of service.

I can't see how it can be 'legal' Zorba. Look back at #22, where the quote shows them offering NRK channels which are scrambled. That to me sounds like CS.

NRK are only soft scrambled on 5E so it can be decoded quite easily without CS but still sounds pretty dodgy.

slight bit of confusion I think. The NRK channels are being offered on their broadband service (see #22) not their satellite service. It is the UK FTA channels that are being offered in Southern Spain with a relativly small dish. It seems that the quality of this service is reliant on the current position of 1N.

Yes, you are right, I was getting a bit mixed up. However, that doesn't change the fact that NRK are scrambled and don't have any FTA channels to rebroadcast so I guessing they are not legitimately available on offer in Spain and its still a bit dodgy.

How does "soft-scrambling" work in digital? Similar to Videocrypt (like Ch5) where you only needed a decoder without a card? So here you just need a CAM (or Viasat's official receiver)?

I believe a resident of Sweden/Norway/Denmark can call Viasat and give them their official receiver box ID and they'll activate the FTV channels without needing a card.
