Is this possible with a DiSEqC switch?

Currently got FTA 28.2 upstairs running off a oval dish.
Downstairs got a Technomate 6900HD runnning a motorised 80cm between 5w and 28.2e.
Getting fed up of the time it takes the dish to move aswell as the fact I can only get a good signal on one or the other.
Is this possble? I want permanently point the 80cm at 5w and install a DiSEqC switch along with a cable to the oval dish so I get instant switching between both satellites and still be able to watch FTA 28.2 upstairs. Im sure it will but thought id ask.

Yes you can. Ive gone down the multiple dish route due to tree problems here, all cross wired in weird & wonderful ways

Yup - 5 hobby dishes plus one Sky dish

Maybe a sixth hobby dish over Christmas - I fancy having a go for 52.5E

Just a quick reply.

This switch works a treat and up and running in 10 minutes. Now instant from 28.2 to AB5.
But heres the weird thing: the signal strength from astra/euro is better through my old crappy 53cm fixed dish than it was through my 80cm motorised?? the cable length had also increased AND the sky dish has branches infront of it, the 80cm motorised was unobstructed. Maybe these motors zap lots of signal.

Of course they do indeed from memory the insertion loss is 3dB and as that is on a logarithmic scale that equates to 50% loss IIRC.

They make no difference to MER and that's what counts where signal quality is concerned.

Perhaps the motorised wasn't aligned perfectly, also I believe the skew can be a bit out on motorised dishes for the astras.
