Is Vu+ Ultimo 4K really worth it or just hype for video quality?

Hi everyone,

I’m trying to understand a real-world difference in video quality between Vu+ Zero 4K and Vu+ Ultimo 4K, especially for SD channels and upscaling performance.

My setup:

  • 65-inch QLED TV
  • Mostly watching SD and HD and few 4k satellite channels
  • No recording, no multi-room, just simple watching

My main questions:

  1. Has anyone actually compared Zero 4K vs Ultimo 4K side-by-side on a large TV (55"+ or 65")?
  2. Do you notice any real improvement in SD channel quality on Ultimo 4K?
    • Better sharpness?
    • Less noise?
    • Cleaner picture?
  3. Is upscaling (SD → 4K) noticeably better on Ultimo 4K, or is it basically the same?

From what I understand:

  • Both boxes use similar decoding pipelines
  • Upscaling may depend more on TV than STB
But I want real user experience, not specs.

Important:

  • I only use single tuner
  • No need for extra features (recording, multi-tuner, etc.)
  • Buying decision is mainly based on picture quality only

So final question:

Is there any visible improvement in video quality (especially SD) on Ultimo 4K compared to Zero 4K on a 65-inch screen?

Or is the difference negligible in real-world viewing?

Would appreciate honest feedback from users who have used both.

Thanks!

I did some research and found that both VU+ Zero 4K and VU+ Ultimo 4K use essentially the same Broadcom based video decoding pipeline. On paper the chipset difference between the two should not produce a visible picture quality gap for normal satellite viewing.

But I want to hear from real users who have actually compared both on a large screen — specifically on SD, HD and 4k channels and upscaling on a 65 inch QLED.

Can anyone confirm from actual side by side experience? Is there any visible difference in sharpness, noise reduction, or colour accuracy between Zero 4K and Ultimo 4K Or is the difference truly negligible in real world watching?

Appreciate honest feedback from users who have used both — not specs, just real eyes on real screens.
