Gray Image = Switching between cameras, or communications with the ISS is not available.

I was just looking at that on the live feed too. I thought it might be a reflection off something?

Or photon's from the Sun interacting with the Van Allen radiation belt, you can see some funny stuff when that happens.(or when you get to the halfway point on a bottle of scotch)
