Hi,
Firstly thanks in advance for any help that can be provided, and secondly apologies for information that I have missed off.
I am at my in laws in Normandy, France and was trying to get Channel 5 for them on their satellite TV and ended up wiping the channels/resetting the box somehow! I have managed to get most back, but have a few questions hopefully someone can clear up! I haven't amended any settings manually, and have only changed settings when searching for channels (i.e. changed the satellite to search for channels on; manually tried to enter a freq for BBC3 but it still did a full search - I've subsequently changed the frequency back. I didn't alter the horizontal or verticals, or the 22000 figure).
They have an 'FMD Terminal Numerique', which is obviously French, but I've changed the language settings to English. There are various set up options, which I've not touched, for configuring the antenna etc, various frequencies (not the individual channel frequencies ) etc.
The dish is a 'standard' dish, or looks like it and it is about 15 years old or so.
1. They were connected to Astra 2 prior to my 'intervention' and the set top box has various satellites they can choose, I chose 'Astra 2' I think most of the channels I have got have come from 2E, but I've seen that Channel 5 is on 2F., but are you able to get 2A-2F by just selecting Astra 2? I earlier searched for Channels on 'Astra' and it gave me a handful of 'terrestrial' channels, but nowhere near the full range. Dave etc are there, but have a '$' next to them, which I'm assuming means they're part of a subscription - possibly part of Sky?
2. Are they able to get Dave etc? So far I've got most 'standard' Freeview channels apart from Dave, Channel 5 and BBC3 and 4 (although that may be because they're not broadcasting yet as it's only 5pm GMT as I write this) - they never had C5 or Dave before, but did have BBC3 and 4.
I assume I should be able to manually enter a channel, but can't see how to do this. I got channel details from en.kingofsat.net/pos-28.2E.php. I'm not expecting help with using the particular receiver, as I'm sure it's obscure and will be down to me to see if I can find the right way to manually enter a channel.
Sorry, this is probably woefully lacking in information, but as someone who is totally new to most of this stuff, I'm not sure what kind of information is necessary. Also aware it's Christmas, so not expecting prompt replies at all!
Thanks in advance for any help, if people can advise any settings etc I should be looking for, I'd be very appreciative. Or if there's a general FAQ on here I've missed? Happy Christmas to you all!
Tim
