You can get most of the Italian base channels already if you are pointed at Hotbird.

I think he's on about Tivu', the new FTV service from RAI and Mediaset due to launch soon in Italy. There are rumours here that RAI may even leave the Sky Italia epg but that hasn't been confirmed. The channels will encrypt (in Irdeto I believe) and a new decoder (not sky's) and card will be required (I haven't seen any news on CAM's yet). I wll post more on this as soon as I can.
regards
D.

Ah thanks, hadn't heard about this.:)

Will move it to Digital Systems section.:)

That will annoy a lot of my customers, as I have many of them watching the RAI channels on FTA receivers.

Quite.

I've just told Mrs.Rai and she now has a long face.

If it is anything like the UK version the only real difference to the consumer will be access to the HD services and a different EPG. The same channels should simulcast on both services for quite some time.

Good!

Won't stop me buying a new toy, though :)

Its for "her", after all.
