Why has that lyric suddenly sprung to mind? :)

No idea earworms are usually auditory triggered not visually:-wow

I do however see I have rejoined the convent of lager slurping midwives

Juast disable javascript on the page & the snow goes away. The site works well enough without it for a couple of weeks. If you use a script blocker like NoScript you can switch between JS on & off with a couple of clicks.

Note - NoScript WILL break a lot of sites - far too many rely on a shed load of third party scripts for advertising metrics - Ive seen 30 or 40 scripts running on some sites in the past. You can re-enable whatever you feel safe with on a site by site basis.

I haven't experienced any problems, with the animation, and the site looks very nice.
I have read the thread, regarding others experiencing problems, but I always use a PC, to access the forum, and not a phone, or alternative electronic device.
How have your PC's fared? Weren't you experimenting to see how low a spec, you could use, with Windows 10?

My PC lodas Sats UK in 2 seconds. I use a wired connection because the router is local and leave the tablets and junk for wireless.

The office PC and laptop shows the snow, the iPad does not.

This version of the snow isnt too bad but some of the earlier versions have had bad effects on my computer hardware. As I normally use fairly low end kit some of the snow effects have sent the cooling fans into screaming overdrive within a few seconds of opening the forum pages in recent years. This one doesnt, but to be honest I really dont like the effect of the falling snow. Its hard to explain but it makes me feel queasy after a while. This computer is an i3 with win7 / 16GB ram so maybe its handling the javascript routines better than some of the lower spec kit Ive had.

Yes Im still testing low end kit for how successful win10 deployments are on them. This tower will be one of them (not expecting any problems) and Ive got another old laptop pile of junk to try over the holiday

@Analoguesat

"Good luck", and keep us posted on your Win 10 progress:Y
FWIW, I've got a 2008 vintage Sony laptop (from my brother-in-law!) that's running Vista (!) and that I need to try to update to W10 sometime in January - and there'll probably something else "horrible" to deal with after that! :(

Too late now but I just noticed there is a "Disable holiday styling" option in preferences :-doh

I didn't know that either. Will remember next year!

No problems at all with win10 on the 16GB daily driver so far. I dropped the sdd with win7 on it into a caddy so I can plug it in & rescue those inevitable forgotten files. With classic/open shell added, local user only activated, & shutup10 run once a week or so its not as bad as I was expecting, although a lot of that is the removal of the hideous win10 user interface.

The missus has given me the go ahead to win10 her laptop now shes seen mine in action, with the same setup of addons..

The snow and Christmas has long gone (12 days ?) but there is still The Nativity out there.

Probably not for long.

Does that work on a certain budget airlines "just jab and go" advert?

Wish the snow had gone here, managed to walk/slide to the pharmacy yesterday, it is only 500yds away but could only walk in the road, had to jump onto the lethal footpaths every time a car approached in either direction, the big freeze is continuing here for another couple of days, just had an ice warning from the weather app, it is strange warning us about what is already here:rolleyes:

A white Twelfth Night: Beautiful Winter's day here in the Independent Republic of Yorkshire (North). This is the view from our back garden

Lovely shot there.

Yes, its already forecast to be somewhat colder tonight around here, a threat of freezing fog as well so I'm getting some porridge ingredients ready in a few minutes.

For now though I'm opening a bottle of Malbec, give it 30 minutes to breathe.
