You won't get it with these up here,

This is what you have to do:

1. First get Topset and the update file voor you TF7700 here:
_http://www.topfield-sat.de/SVS-WEB/topset_en.html

Install topset and the we begin:

First if you dont have the right TP you should add one with the folowing parameters:

- Frequency: 11428
- Symbolrate: 27500
- TP STream ID: 0
- Polarity: Horizontal
- Mode: Normal
- Modulation: DVB-S

If you already have this TP then the next step
You have to open the advanced mode op topset to do this go to:

tools --> options-->preferences--->check advance mode.
_http://www.sat4all.com/upload//44640.jpg

When done go to the tv service

In tv service you have to add a new service

You go to edit-->new

Fill in with these figures:
- Name: ITV HD
- Provider: BSkyB or Freesat :D
- Video PID: 3401
- PCR PID: 3401
- Service ID: 10510
- Audio PID: 11594
- PMT PID: 3400

when you're done click on the advance tab and fill in the folowing figures:

- Res. 1: 27
- Res. 2: 1
- APID Flag: check it

I'm gonna adapt this information for my Dreambox DM7025. I can't see the video directly on the TV ofcourse, but I intend to stream it to the imac as I do BBC HD. I'll report my findings. Monaco GP would be great in HD on the imac !!!

Hi mate,

I treid this on my TF7710HDPVR and just got a blank screen. Is there no way to enter it using the menus on the receiver itself.

What does the TV transmit when there is no service running?

For topset, do I connect the PC to the topfield using the USB port? Does this work on the 7710? It's quite difficult finding a double ended usb lead.

You need to use Topset..it allows access to settings which aren't available using the Receiver's normal menu system.

I wouldn't risk connecting an A-A USB lead between PC and Receiver.

You need to get hold of a USB to RS232 converter and a RS232 null modem lead then you will be in business.

Cheers, but why would I need to null modem lead? I thought the RS232 to USB would be the only interface I needed. I had no idea about this Topset software, I only knew about the one Topfield advocates in their manual.

Doe Topset allow you to transfer recorded files to the host PC?

Cheers mate.

Just to be clear, my set-up is TF7700HSCI - PVR with External Hard drive.

The 'null-modem' lead is a particular type of RS232 lead (wired to connect two devices 'host-to-host' I believe). I use this plugged into the RS232 port on the rear of the Topfield plus an RS232 to usb adapter plugged into a PC USB port and it works fine.

Topset is just a channel Editor it allows you to sort channels, edit favourite lists etc. As far as I can see it is not official Topfield software, but it seems to be more advanced than Topfield's own 'Vega' channel editor.

I'm still experimenting with programs to read recorded files from the external Hard-disk and convert them for PC editing. IF I plug the Hard drive into my PC (via US:cool: I can see all the Topfield recorded files. I've played a bit with a program called VideoReDo which is able to read Topfield's '.rec' file format but doesn't seem to be able to cope with HD recordings at least not the trial version I downloaded.

Can't record on mine either.

And I noticed that ITV HD is shown as a Radio channel on the front-panel display.

Okay, I see what you mean. But why the need for the extra RS232 cable? Does it provide some kind of crossover, like a cross-over ethernet cable? Why not just use the USB-RS232 cable?

Have you heard of anybody able to take files from the TF7710HDPVR? At the moment, my only complaint about the product is that there is not way currently to backup files that are recorded, so eventually I will have to delete them. Can the hard drive be addressed remotely from the ethernet or RS232 port at the back of the recorder?

I think we may be talking at cross purposes here..my USB to 232 converter is a small 'block' which requires a USB B-A lead to connect to the PC and a 232 null modem lead to connect to the Toppy..sounds like you have an integral lead which is USB to 232 in one piece? I'm not sure if yours will work if it is a 'straight-thru' 232. The null modem lead is effectively the same idea as an Ethernet 'cross-over' cable. (If I recall correctly from 20years back, the RS232 Transmit and Receive data lines are swapped to make a null modem lead and possibly some of the internal control wires are reconfigured.)

Some body else needs to comment on downloading recorded files from the internal HDD.My 7700HSCI uses an external HDD and doesn't have an Ethernet port.

Yes, you probably need to cross-connect RTS and CTS, but it all depends on what variant of the protocols are in use - we used to joke that there were 50 different ways of using RS232 connections, and if you defined one, you could find someone using it.

Hi,
Your information was much appreciated.
However, while I have entered all the parameters using the current version of Topset as described my TF7710 PVR comes up with "no signal" banner.
Any thoughts please?

Its a know problem with the TF7710/TF7700 HDPVR, has nothing to do with the settings.

Only thing I can think of a couple of thing:

1. Allighn you dish wel.
2. make sure you got the transponder 11426H added in your TF
3. make sure you got the the latest firmware installed in your TF.

That's all, let me know how it goes.

Hi legolas,
Many thanks for your reply.
I have checked and I do have the latest firmware updates from 27.03.08.
Will check the dish alignment and will add the 11426H to the TF rather than the 11428H I had been using.
Will let you know.

Hi legolas,
Still no luck; looks like I'll need to wait for an update from Topfield or ITV to start broadcasting ITV HD "normally".
