This channel via Freesat HD (and Freeview HD) is currently broadcasting a 2-channel PCM Stereo audio bitsteam and not the full flavour 5.1 Dolby Digital surround audio bitstream yet. If you find that this is happening on Freesat (and Freeview HD) with your receiver boxes, don't pull your hair out and go mad-there is an explanation for it;
ITV1HD at present on Freesat(and Freeview) doesn't transmit a fulltime DD audio bitstream, but we hope to activate it later this year, no date is set at this stage. I personally think that they are keeping it on hold while they upgrade the various ITV studios and various outside production companies that make programmes for ITV around the UK with Dolby Digital encoding equipment and Dolby Digital audio facilities to make and record programmes in Dolby Digital, the studios at the moment and production company facilities are equipped to the best of their ability to currently record and prefilm programmes with stereo NOT Dolby Digital sound, and the same is true of the ITV HD and SD transmission suites in London and around the UK;they are presently stereo equipped but not Dolby Digital equipped. My Humax Foxsat HDR receives and decodes DD sound from the BBCHD channel but there is no DD sound on ITV1HD at present;the box isn't at fault, it's properly set up and connected as per instructions and the instructions say that "the box will receive and decode DD sound when transmitted and available", so if you are facing this on the ITV1HD channel via Freesat HD (and Freeview HD) don't get mad over the lack of DD sound OK. It'll come eventually!:)
