Astra 2A, can be watched across Europe :D

A few days ago there was ITV NEWS, now is ITV1 and God knows what else is going to be there yet.

just looked at lyngsat and it is listed as itv 1 central west. if it stays as this it willl benift a lot of people in europe with smaller dishes

In my view only the spirit of Christmas can keep this channel there !

By that do you mean the pressure from the advertisers keeping it FTA so they reach a bigger audience to flog their stuff to in the run up to the biggest consumer spend of the year.

Maybe so ;)

L. :)

Nop, what I mean is that only a miracle can keep this channel on 2A, and Christmas is the period where miracles take place !!!!

What worries me is the fact that the channel on 2A is flagged as ITVi stream, which makes me think that subject channel/frequency will later be used only for transmitting ITV's interactive content. I hope I am not right on that.

They update channels almost everyday. When there was ITV NEWS it was listed as ITV NEWS. It doesn't mean anything. To me it's highly unlikely that it will stay there longer then a few more days.

What are the chances of itv remaining on sky(ireland) untill next year.It would be my christmas present if it stays on there in-defenatly.

ITV is now free to air on Astra 28E it was supposed to start early 2006 but went active early and its there to stay

Wow formula 1 in digital picture and sound after 10 years waiting for this it is about time. Will it be going on the epg any time soon or will it remain in the extr chanels section.O-Ha O-Ha :o ;) ;) ;)   :-beer :-beer

In my opinion ITV1 has stayed there for far too long. I really don't know what is going on, but I really hope it stays there forever ! ! !

This is a TEST transmission. There is absolutely NO CHANCE whatsoever it going on the epg. It will disappear sooner or later, so enjoy it whilst is around.

Exactly ! The thing is how long will it last untlil the end of its transmission..!

...and Tuesday comes with a champions league game to show....

Its here to stay, it is a test but its not gonna be pulled unless something goes wrong which is unlikely, there are also other things on the way i believe this is why it has been launched early,
There are posts and press releases regarding the fourth comming plans for a BBC+ITV colaboration, ITV and BBC has no interest to keep their channels on Sky, in fact they have to pay sky and Sky charge the customer, a double wammy for Sky.
It makes sense for ITV to go it alone. They spent a few years licking their wounds after ITV digital bombed no thanks to Skys dirty tricks, Sky have also lost their rights to Football recently, ITVs on a roll in the UK at the moment 4 new channels in the last 18 months, ITV2, ITV3, ITV4 and Men and Motors and ive heard rumours Channel four is following suite soon they just launched anothe channel More4 as well as making E4 and E4+ FTA on freeview Top up TV also has been launched in the UK offering a selection of the The UK TV suite, UK Gold etc including Cartoon Network this too was not exspected to last long but i hear they are expanding the service already. The UK government is upping the anti to get Freeview in every home so they can reach the switch off targets, even subsidising boxes now the knock on effect is the UK broadcaster needs to change the game and Sky isnt part of their plan. Good news for FTA satallite though.

Theres quite a few factual errors on that my friend.

1) Sky have not lost the football rights. Assuming you are referring to Premiership football, they will almost certainly get 5 out the 6 packages up for auction.

2) ITV DIgitals demise was more to do with ITV's mismanagement of the service, (using an already compromised encryption and paying over the odds for lower league football)

3)ITV have launched 2 channels in the last 18 months 3 & 4 (M&M has been around donkeys years ITV 2 started about 4 years back.

4) The 12422 test is just that & can disappear at any time. ITV can put a test card up if they want. They have just contracted tp space to expand services - probably for interactive services, and NEW services. We know ITV expect to start ITV Shop & ITV Play (for games) next year, so expect ITV Birmingham to disappear in favour of more retail opportunties at some point!! :D

I could go on. :D

1. ITV didnt receive much needed funding as promised from Sky for services and were let down by The UK government so they were forced to compromise their system like most systems that are up there why dont they all use NDS systems um......... the cost.

2. Men and Motors was bought by ITV last year, if you wanna get picky, ITV3 was actually Granada.

3. As for the football rights it was a reference to the begining of the end of Sky's reign that it has held for some years with respect to a monopoly on matches.

i could go on but im sure youd find some argument, my post was simply to inform that ITV has changed the rules thats why its going FTA and is under going major changes.
There is also no chance that ITV1 is going to be removed for shoping channels.
Im sure that no matter what anyone says you've decided its not permanent and will argue the toss and completley miss the point of the post.
ITS HERE TO STAY({})
http://www.itv.com/
Take a look for yourself, i dont understand your hostlity on the issue, do you work for Sky or something.

Woah, hold your horses there cowboy, can't see any hostility in Analoguesat's post, more so in yours. He is simply pointing out the errors in your post and the incorrect assumptions made. If you are going to post information or make statements, please check the veracity first.

PS. I also think that you have misunderstood Analoguesat's main point, he is not saying that ITV is going to disappear, merely that it is unlikely to stay on that wide footprint transponder.

I see the web site and I agree that the ITVi service will continue but I don't think it will constantly stream the ITV programming. Look at the BBC version and you will get an idea. They don't show bbc programming all day and they have 8 or 9 streams. At the moment they are showing one of the ITV central programs. this would not be right if you accessed it in Scotland would it. Even if the programs were the same the advertising would be wrong. I do believe that it is still good and will get champions league etc. but why make the bill or emerdale available on interactive. Who wants to be a millionare yes cause of the interactive facilities but not general programs.
With a bit of luck i will be wrong but lets wait and see:cool:
