On the bracket there are numbers to set the angle yes, i have set it to what i had seen as right from looking on here & reading up on it, but my signal was poor, 24%

I think i'll end up doing it trial and error

Thanks rolf, your been very helpful

I got a satellite finder and i found 1w within seconds

Excellent buy

Although i have found that my pole must not be 100%

I can get 1w, 5e, 7e

I cant get anythin else, nothing is obstructing the view

Just need to sort the pole and i'll be away

HI

Remind me again, which satellite did you set up as your due south. Are you useing USALS or Diseqc for moving the dish? Cheers

What reference transponder are you using for 1W?

PS. I've merged this with your original thread, this will stop people having to search for information about what you have already done.

Hi Sean, Sorry to poke my nose in but I have just finished helping a mate with a similar problem to you and after him swearing to me that his pole was straight and after wasting 2 hours I found that he had not used the spirit level all around the pole, only at the front.

What I'm saying is check the pole all round to make sure it is plum, otherwise you have no chance.

Cheers for merging it

I used 1w as my due south, the transponder im using as the reference for it is 11.189/2.142, the first in the list

Im using USALS to move the dish

Its really confusing me, i feel like its missing the sats

I have put in the correct Lat & Long, got it from multimap, put my postcode in

I have a clear view, well, at least i think i have, the dish is mounted near the corner of my house

This is the dish, pointing at what the reciever/motor thinks 30w is

Do you think it needs to go higher to see over my house ?

I have been behind it at 2pm and the sun shines on it, so i presume i can get a view of it

Thanks people

Hi Rob

I checked the pole with the spirit level at two sides, the front and the side, if that makes sense

From the look of the picture, 30W is being obscured by the roof. Is 1W about straight in line with the back wall of the house?

Sorry for the late reply

Yeah, 1w is straight in line with the back of the house

I think that picture was taken after 2pm and the suns shining on it, so i thought i would be able to get 30w from that position

30W is only at about 25 degrees elevation, which is only about 1 in 2 gradient,
it is difficult to tell from a photograph.

When I asked about default transponder, I meant the one for 30W, there are a few on there which have nothing on them or are pointing in a different direction.

Im just having a look now

I can get upto 45e, so surely the pole must be straight, it must be a problem looking over the roof, think im going to have to higher it up a bit

The default transponder for 30w im using is 11.509/11.000

Do you suggest using another or do you think i just need to higher the dish

Use 11615 Horizontal, SR 27,500 FEC 3/4, that should get you a better shot at the satellite. :)

I can see 11615 on Hispasat, but only when I set the polarisation to vertical!. This may be something to do with my use of the original Sky Raven LNB with its inbuilt skew, on the dish. I have an order in for an LNB with zero skew, and it will be interesting to see if this makes a difference in the apparent polarisation. When I do the box's automatic scan of Hispasat, I get a pretty complete list of channels, and they are all of reasonable signal quality.
11615 shows at 58% strength on the signal monitor of my SL65.
I can't see the others mentioned on this thread either, despite the fact that everything works! (and it's definitely Hispasat, Taquilla channels etc)
